Airplane Slides Off Mexico Airport Runway

MEXICO CITY - An outbound flight slid off the runway before takeoff at Mexico City's international airport late Wednesday, airport authorities said.
The plane was damaged and at least one woman suffered a broken arm. The Aero California flight was bound for Durango in northwestern Mexico, airport spokesman Jose Luis Uribe said.
The mishap occurred during heavy rains, but it wasn't clear whether it was caused by water or bad visibility.
Medical teams attended to passengers, who were transported to the airport terminal.
One woman, diagnosed with a broken arm, told Mexico City radio station Formato 21 that terrified passengers ran screaming from the plane after it came to a sudden halt.
All takeoffs and landings were suspended for more than an hour as airport officials waited for the weather to improve.

One of the Televisa News programs this morning said that no rescue equip showed up, including no fire equip; PAX were walking around the area; some PAX crossed over to the highway and got into taxicabs and left.
The "live" cameras showed a lot of shots of the field, including some taxiways that were contaminated with ??? I couldn't tell if the contamination was pieces of various debri or just paper and garbage. lr.

It looks like it did a little more than ‘just slide off the runway’. Glad everybody got out with nothing more than minor injuries.

And now for something totally different than previously reported
"Aerocaliforna flight 706 was the evening flight from Mexico City to Durango and Torreón. About half an hour late, the flight was cleared to takeoff from runway 05L. Immediately after rotation the flight encountered windshear forcing the airplane into the ground with a subsequent loss of control. All three landing gears collapsed and the right wing was destroyed."
