MyTravel Divert?

Afternoon, all!

We've had a snippet of info in the office that a MyTravel 767 diverted into Wilmington yesterday. We presume that something pretty serious must have prompted the decision, as it seems that a 767 can't get out of the airfield with a payload!

Any idea of causes? What happened to the pax?

And, my apologies if this has already appeared on the forums, I did try a search, and found nought!

Ciao

It was a Mytravel 767 with over three hundred passengers and crew from Orlando to Glasgow.

According to local reports in Wilmington, smoke and sparks in the cockpit!!!! forced an emergency landing.

Thumbs up

The fault for those interested was a nav light module fault which shorted out causing the above..minimum programme disruption was caused to our customers and the aircraft is returning fixed on sat am.

Clearly a first class job by the crew concerned. Well done, and perhaps evidence once again of MYT's excellent safety record.

Wilmington is no sweat for a 767 with an 8000´runway.
Used to operate it into Natal, Brasil from Portugal where the main runway, 16L-34R which is 7448´(2270m). One night this runway was closed due to an incident and we were left with the option of using rwy 12 which is 5988' (1825m). With minimum required fuel, 247 pax and 20 flaps, we had about a ton to spare on the Airport Analysis limit, for a 7 hour flight to LIS.
Pretty good airplane.

Good find Billmac.

What a shame to hear the airport director playing to the news-morons' sensationalising.

Isn't it New Hanover Airport any more?
