Northwest Airlines Announces New Service Between Detroit And Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
Wednesday February 18, 1:00 pm ET
New Nonstop Service Begins June 10

DETROIT, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Northwest Airlines (Nasdaq: NWAC - News) today announced new daily nonstop service between its WorldGateway hub at Detroit and Waterloo Regional Airport, serving Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Three daily flights will be offered beginning June 10.
"We welcome the Waterloo region as a new Northwest destination," said Tom Bach, vice president of market planning and Airlink. "Our new flights will provide travelers in this region, known as the gateway to Canada's Technology Triangle, with shorter travel times to most U.S. destinations, as well as additional options to connect to hundreds of cities worldwide."

With this new service, Northwest will be the only U.S. carrier serving Waterloo Regional Airport. Kitchener-Waterloo will be the 14th Canadian destination served by Northwest and its Northwest Airlink partners -- the most of any U.S. airline. Northwest and its Airlink partners already serve southern Ontario with service to Toronto and London.

The daily service will be flown with the 34-passenger Saab 340 turbo-prop aircraft operated by Northwest Airlink partner Mesaba Airlines. All flights departing Detroit for Waterloo Regional Airport use convenient jetbridges to protect passengers from the weather. Customers arriving at the WorldGateway hub will clear U.S. immigration and customs in the same terminal as Northwest's departures to destinations throughout the United States, Asia and Europe.

"We are thrilled to provide international connections to the Region of Waterloo Airport," said Regional Chairman Ken Seiling. "The addition of regularly scheduled flights from Northwest Airlines will connect over 600,000 people -- all within an easy 30-minute drive of our airport -- to one of the busiest airport hubs in North America."

The daily flights are open for sale beginning Feb. 21 at www.nwa.com , Northwest Airlines Reservations at 1-800-225-2525 or through travel agencies.
