Post Emerald 748 damaged at NCL

Emerald's G-BVOU was severaly damaged at NCL a few days ago when it's port side wing was attacked by a wayward Post Office van. Apparently the van was driven across the stand with the front corner of the van hitting the wing of the 748. The wing ended up embedded in the van by about a foot-and-a-half with the rear-facing flaps ending up pointing skywards. I mention this because there's a thread on PPRUNE elsewhere that talks about ground handling staff damaging aircraft. Have there been any other recent incidents of non-airport staff doing the same thing?

I previously worked at BFS in operations - and used to watch with amazement as the Post Office vans sped around the ramp on the night shift.

One particular night we challenged one of the drivers as his driving and lack of attention was causing concern - he replied that he thought the airport wasn't as busy at night so the speed restrictions weren't in force!!

Upon checking his training records he was found to have had 2 hours of airside driving training 3 years ago !

What made the NCL incident worse was that half an hour later the same driver was driving another GPO van on the next mail flight!
