Looking at that article, it just could be that the word "evacuation" is OTT and that the pax just got out?

Having said that, a Swissair MD-80 really was once evacuated (in CDG) due to diesel fumes in the cabin setting off the high pitched toilet smoke warning, which was misunderstood by the cabin crew for the evac signal (also high pitched).
