EESDL 4th October 2015 08:53

I think it will be a day trip for me - couple of meetings then back up North.
Let's hope they remember to turn on the air con this year!

Hughes500 4th October 2015 09:32

EEDSL

I know it is Grim op North but AC in October ?

Hughes500 4th October 2015 09:33

Might actually go now I hear that the UK's foremost instructor will be giving a talk :uhoh:

flight beyond sight 4th October 2015 10:37

Who is that then ?

Hughes500 4th October 2015 14:50

flight

look on who is giving lectures !

G-ARZG 4th October 2015 17:07

You have to admire the way it cleverly clashes with InterAirport show in Munich. Not a concern for some, but for others of a ground ops leaning...

Heli2 5th October 2015 08:23

What would make someone describe them self as the UK's foremost instructor?

No of hours instructed v other instructors in the industry?
Majority of students passing with 'excellent' passes and in minimum hours?
Reputation?

ShyTorque 5th October 2015 08:43

Heli2, eh?

How modest can one be?

:p

HeliHenri 5th October 2015 09:00

.

Nobody is describing himself (herself in that precise case) as the Uk's foremost instructor. :=

H500 is just deforming the comment maybe "slightly" too laudatory (advertising effect) made by the person in charge of Helitech ! :E

.

G-ARZG 5th October 2015 10:46

Henri's right, 'foremost instructor' was probably conjured up by the same hack that wrote 'an impressive array' of static (7 cabs and a mock-up, seriously ??)

Hughes500 5th October 2015 11:54

HH goes with the rest of the bollocks spouted by some parts of our industry

Heli2 5th October 2015 13:13

Hi ShyTorque,

Sorry, I think I may have been unclear. My questions were questions not statements.

HeliHenri 5th October 2015 15:45

.

Nothing to do with your nice words about your industry,

I'm not talking about the skills of a FI (it's not of my business) , I'm defending the honor of a lady (that is all the same more class I must say ;))

The statement made by helitech says about the FI invited by them "one of the foremost UK's instructor" (advertisement inside) and it's transformed on this topic into "this FI is describing himself/herself as the UK's foremost instructor". :=

That's the "small" difference I'm pointing out.

HH

Well the truth about our ( my ) industry hurts at times, here's some examples

1. Piston engines that if you fitted in your car you would take back as not fit for purpose on their oil consumption amongst other things
2. Manufactures not designing their products and expecting us to pay for their mistake e.g. Robinson blades
3. Sikorsky having an AOG policy of 333 days for some parts
4. EASA making it impossible for public transport single engine helicopters being able to take off vertically, try explaining that to a punter ( what is the point of a helicopter ? )
5. Training companies promising things that those in the industry know is bordering on a scam.
6. Little or no warranty on products although UK law will have just changed that !!!
About time more of us stood up and be counted before we don't have an industry left
Incidentally I stated that I was going to Helitech as one of the UK's foremost instructors was lecturing, you have seemed to go off on a tangent when talking about her honour but on that subject Personally I wouldn't let anyone advertise in a public forum and say I was one of the UK's foremost instructors when obviously I am not.

:p

So it only takes 10 years of flying helicopters to become one of the foremost UK instructors..............

chopper2004 6th October 2015 08:50

Helitech at both Redhill and Duxford were great fun. Easy to find people after hours, as a significant number stayed locally. The last one in London was a waste of time and an awful, remote, location. Amsterdam was a waste of time and money.

I won't be attending any of them in their current format and locations, as they simply don't appeal to the vast majority of Operators and Service providers, which is actully the prime reason for attending! If I want to meet any European helicopter operators then go to the States/Canada or wherever else they are located and visit their headquarters. If you want to meet their people, then go to HAI.

But then to be totally fair, I'm afraid I'm not going to Louisville either.

Hughes500 8th October 2015 09:23

Well i went yesterday, who do I invoice for a complete waste of time. Visited and spoke to 6 stands all of whom hated being there !!
By the way there is a shortage of pilots according to a lecture ?

fluffy5 8th October 2015 11:27

I think all training companies have always maintained there is a shortage of pilots, bums on seats...

heli1 8th October 2015 20:49

Reed certainly haven't lost their arrogance. You would never think what a disappointing show it was ( again) if you read their post show write up. Out of three days only one had a reasonable attendance but previous exhibitors like Sloane,Bristow, CHC ,Heliair and of course Sikorsky noticeable by their absence .a few new U.S. Exhibitors didn't plug the gap and probably didn't make their investment back.Even AgustaWestland were complaining this time....Bell agent Helichatrer didn't seem impressed ,Frasca went home early...need I go on!
