Retro fitting floats on an R22
Can anyone tell me if floats can be retro fitted to an R22 Beta ?
|
no idea but send a pm to sloane mallorca he eats drinks sleeps and dreams about floats.
|
From the dim recesses of my memory, I remember that the tail booms are different between the Mariner and the non float machines, so it could become a certification exercise too.
This is not a hard fact though, I last worked on a 22 yonks ago. |
Not a 22 pilot myself.
Mariner F-GTCK - Private Robinson R22 Mariner series Aircraft Photo | Airplane-Pictures.net is floated but I think that there are significant differences between the mariner version and the non. I think that in construction the anti-corrosion treatment is different and this may be required for certification for use on water. Not aware of any after Market pop-out floats available for the 22. Have you asked Robinson? |
I don't think you can do this practically.
The structure is modified on the Mariner in addition to the corrosion treatment. CRAN |
If I remember: you can't retro fit Robinson floats to a Beta.
You can make a R22 Mariner into a R22 Beta But you can't make the R22 Beta into a R22 Mariner. Too many differences, including tailboom inclination, different skids, paint..... Maybe DART do Pop-Outs!! |
R22 Beta Floats
Thanks folks.
I was just trying to answer a question from someone who is looking to buy my helicopter. |
