One of the best light helos ever invented.
FL, you are a very lucky man.......

To have flown one of my demo models;)

Steve

No, my pax was an ex RN observer, not ex AAC.

Here's another pic taken over Leeds Castle, Kent. It's a pretty background but Blender chose the other shot because this one is too 'busy' for the desktop calendar picture. I agree with him but you may like it for your collection.

BTW, the CAA G-INFO database still shows the aircraft registered to the previous owner.

RN Gazelle XW895

I flew my first solo in this aircraft in Feb 1977, and flew it a lot during the RNPC, and later on the IRI course, and later still as a Trapper.

md 600 driver 8th May 2004 17:16

they dont rush do they" it will change one day hopefully

12 PSI 8th May 2004 21:28

Hey Dakotaman, Me too! First solo, all the way round NT Predannack, although a bit after you.

Ah, the EOLs. It was only on beefers course that I discovered you had to move the sticks - they always seemed to move on their own during training!:=

6Z3 8th May 2004 22:52

Passed my FHT on 705 NAS in XW895 in '77 to earn "Wings of Gold" lovingly stitched into dyed-in-the-wool dark blue barathea - a special day

Believe the unit is the post-IHC phase of a tri-Service light helicopter course now.

Mi - 24 "at work"

Mi-24 just after she discarded her load of 80 x 80 mm rockets. On a shooting range of course...

Here we have an unusual "fly past" as it was a low speed fly past with a high nose up. Yes it might look normal but normally we fly with 8 degrees nose down at 140 to 160 kts.

http://www.nel.co.za/Data/photo275.jpg

Here we are in the hover with wheels up. This was the last official picture of this helicopter. I wrote her off a week later in a double engine failure.

Here we approach from the Atlantic in to land.

Hope you enjoyed them.

More later ... :ok:

Zlin526 9th May 2004 21:20

FL,

Your nav is not quite as accurate as your legal skills; Leeds Castle it aint....:p

Flying Lawyer 9th May 2004 22:29

Ooops! :uhoh:
I was working too hard keeping in close formation with the camera ship to ask at the time and have since been told, wrongly it seems, that it's Leeds Castle.

Any ideas? The photoshoot was over East Sussex and into Kent.

oldpinger 9th May 2004 23:00

Hmmm,

Nothing exciting- failed one sortie in XW895 (D16 whatever that was) and low level EOLs, ahhh those zoom climbs, you've got to love them!

PPRuNe Radar 9th May 2004 23:21

North Sea bad hair day

Offshore shuttle interupted by FOD being ingested into the MGB area.
Shut down to inspect in 45kts of wind, attempted to restart just as a
gust came through. The result----->

Was subsequently presented with the remains of the rotor brake handle
(suitable mounted) which I was left holding after one of the rotor blades
sliced through it about one inch above my thumb.

Sorry to those who have already seen these on another thread but
Heliport asked me to post them here.

Heliport 10th May 2004 08:56

Thanks Hugh.

I thought these pics were worth preserving for posterity!
