Cool Erickson S-64F pic
N178AC started life as a 1970 Army CH-54B Tarhe. Sikorsky developed a civil version S-64F "Skycrane" in the early 1970s but never actually produced any civil S-64Fs. When Erickson-Aircrane bought the S-64E/F type certificates in 1992 it allowed them to convert CH-54Bs to civil S-64Fs. Erickson now has 7 S-64Fs in service. The F can lift 25,000lb or 2500 gallons of water and has uprated 5000hp engines.
I took this pic during the Hopper fire in Ventura County Calif. during August 1997. Skip http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/photos/big/1/178ac-1.jpg |
Skip,
179AC "Elvis" is sitting outside our hangar again, cluttering up the place :) Maybe if you put your website in your profile, others may be able to link to your site & see all the pictures that you have there. Cheers, John |
Just a few pics from OZ. John eacott was flying the camera ship, talk about intimidating. Sitting right above the Skycranes blades in a 206 looking down.
