Never Mind The Cumbrian Air Ambulance
I HAVE JUST HEARD FROM A VERY RELIABLE SOURCE THAT THE GREAT NORTH AIR AMBULANCE BASED IN BLYTH NORTHUMBERLAND IS TO CLOSE AS OF THE 31/03/05, THIS IS DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS AS THE CHARITY IS NOW DIRECTING ALL ITS EFFORTS TO THE NEW AIR AMBULANCE BASED IN TEESIDE.
THIS WILL BE A BIG LOSS TO THE COMMUNITY AS IT HAS NOW BEEN OPERATING FOR OVER 14 YEARS AND WAS THE FIRST AIR AMBULANCE IN THE "NORTH". SEEMS TO ME THE NEW CHARITY HAS BITTEN OFF MORE THAN IT CAN CHEW AS IT WILL HAVE CLOSED TWO UNITS IN THE SPACE OF A MONTH. SAD DAY FOR THE NORTHEAST OF ENGLAND ! |
What are they doing with the aircraft? They are both still on contract. They're not closing Blyth due to the fact that the new aircraft can cover it all from Teeside are they?
|
ITS CLOSING DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS THEY HAVE SPENT ALL THERE MONEY IN TEESSIDE ON A SHINY 902 THAT SHOULD HAVE WENT TO BLYTH, SEEING AS THAT WAS THE FIRST UNIT IN THE NORTH.
ITS ALSO TO FAR SOUTH TO COVER AS FAR UP AS THE SCOTTISH BORDERS IT WILL BE JUST AS QUICK FOR A ROAD AMBULANCE TO GO |
If it is closing then that is sad news.
|
Is it just me, or is it nonsensical to enforce the operation of twin-engined helicopters when funding comes from children rattling tins and jumble sales? Especially in Northumbria, which is overwhelmingly rural?
|
WHAT ABOUT NEWCASTLE GATESHEAD, ITS NOT JUST NORTHUMBERLAND IT COVERS
G-NAAS THE UNITS TWIN SQUIRREL WILL BE UP FOR SALE AT THE END OF THE MONTH ! |
FIGURES ALSO SHOW THAT THE BLYTH HELI HAS DONE APPROX TWICE THE NUMBER OF JOBS THAN THAT OF THE TEESSIDE HELI IN THE SAME PERIOD.
ME THINKS THEY ARE CLOSING THE WRONG UNIT ! |
as355, please don't SHOUT. Thank you. :ok:
|
355,
I was under the impression that the aircraft you mentioned is now owned by your maintenance and pilotage provider and has been since they decided to take the lease deal on the 902. Something to do with PDG sniffing around the contract? |
