How difficlut would you say the Spektrolux test is compared to Holmes Wright? Although you sit nearer to the lights are they smaller or different intensity?

Difficult to answer. The size and intensity of the lights is pretty much the same in both tests, so the Spectrolux test makes it a bit easier to identify the lights. But actually if you can pass a test or not totally depends on your very own colour perception, on which i cannot comment. One Test, which is impossible for somebody can be the easiest test for somebody else, even if the're suffering from the same form of colour vision defiency. That's why i try to encourage everyone to try all 3 Tests.

I have just completed the Farnsworth Lantern to Australian Class I standard (initial issue). Can anyone tell me if I will need to repeat this test for Class I renewals??

Just a small posting to bring this to the top again.

Has anyone looked into whether there is any conflict with disability discrimination laws in their respective countries. With the work of Dr. Pape and the ambigousness (spelling?) of the JAA rulebook combined with the saftey record of CVD pilots?

I personally always fail the Isihara. I have tried the HW lantern at CAA LGW. They were very friendly but I found the test confusing especially after the 30-40th time of seeing the lights. A normal colour visioned person would have difficulty especially as they alter the hues. When in real life do they alter hues of Red/Green navigation lights?

I´d like to know about any lantern test practitioners in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I´ve been on the net for the last three hours but I was unable to find anything.

It should be a practitioner with either the Holmes-wright, the Spectrolux, the Falant or the Beynes, or any other that would lift any doubts with the requirements for the 1st class medical.

Maybe anyone has information about how to make the test there. I´ll be traveling to Texas in june for a few days, so I may have a chance to go see a doctor, and I want to take the it! If you do have any info, please PM me...

Hey guys, I went to Cologne on wedsnesday to sit the Beyne lantern test again (after failing in gatwick) and I passed! Very chuffed. Now I just gotta hope that the CAA will accept the results. Even if they don't I think I can still do my iniial examination in germany then just transfer the whole Class 1 to the UK.

Your a FAA AME yea? Will I be able to use the beyne lantern pass in the US? I already have a FAA Class 1 but it has the night vision/colour control limitation.

I've read the FAA AMEs manual and it lists the alternative lanterns that the FAA use, the beyne isn't mentioned. However the FAA seems to be more lienent then the CAA, you think they would accept it? Thanks :)
