So chaps ....
What do you all think will happen to the "High"(?) salaries paid to our skilled pilot workforce when "Little Johnies" new Industrial Relations laws take precidence to the General Aviation Award (Heli Pilots) evaporates???? :( :* |
Spinwing
I don't think it will make any difference. Wages and conditions in our industry seem to be market driven totally with employers deciding what they will pay and how they treat their staff based on the experience level of pilot they require..... The only difference will be that the rest of the country may soon be in the same boat. |
Flying in Aust.
Hi just a quickie....
Has anyone done flying training in Western Australia?? I am thinking of leaveing the UK, ( just sold my house) for pastures new and would like to hear of any good schools, in that area . I already have a JAA PPL(H )and I wish to to go forward to get a CPL(H). All your thoughts, personal experiences , as well as the dos and donts, aswell as potential work in WA, would be greatfully received . In order to form a cunning plan and career change. Thank you. Thats a great help......your a star. M :O |
ok thank you
I plowed through that link ...but coundnt find anything about flying in Western Australia (Perth really).
As that is where I am going to be based (my brother lives out there). I was raised in Australia ( Alice springs) so the great OZZY bush holds no fears for me. Reading various sites ,they tend to imply that there is a good potential for work there, but I know a sales pitch when I see one ....So whats the real gen... Again any help would be greatfully received. M :O |
Try google search for: heliwest, and Jandakot helicopters, both have web sites. I think there may be one other too. There was a thread concerning this some time ago, the one heliport mentioned was not the one I remember.

|
Yep! Thats the one I was thinking of!!
|
hi mastermark,
I'm in a similar situation to you although my house hasn't sold yet. I have been looking at the same two schools at Jandakot so it would be interesting to see where you end up, if you wouldn't mind keeping us informed.:D Cheers! |
Salaries in Australia
Hey there,
Lets get serious who's geting paid what in terms of annual salaries in Australia currently. Allowances for touring, dta meals, loss of licence, yearly increases, bonuses etc. Cheers |
Well off ya go !!!
|
We all get paid SH!T...
Just some of us get to have it sugar coated.............. |
Heard from a good source the other day that pilots at Australian Helicopters have asked for a 30% increase across the board. Believe they are currently paid on the Award so you can do the sums.
Worth keeping an eye on this as this Company has won a couple of BIG contracts tendering against the bigger boys of late. Great to see an Aussie Company going head to head with the Internationals...and winning. However lets hope that it is not at the detriment or the cost of improved wages and conditions to our local industry that the these guys and their emoployee groups have worked so hard to establish. It's a sellers market boys so stick to your guns and best of luck. |
Oh come on boys.
If your whining about money.
Get off your ass's and get better qualifications. If you look at the big 3 or 4, their guys are generally happy and spots fully staffed. But if you look at the whiners with basic quals, Oh, here I go again. You are what you make of it!!! |
High Nr,
Couldn't agree more. If you are worth it you will get the money and conditions. I think most employers know that they only get what they pay for, the old saying applies, pay peanuts and you get monkeys. Accept lower money while you are learning if you have to, but once you think you have improved enough to warrant a pay hike, ask. If you don't ask, you won't get an answer. If it's not the answer you were hoping for move on....... |
Just out of interest Nigh Nr and McGowan, what part of the industry do you work in?
|
Nigh nr/Mcgowan
If you live in Australia, can you tell me what you think about IR- WorkChoices jacob.:suspect: :suspect: :suspect: :suspect: :suspect: :suspect: x100 |
30% seems reasonaable but I think maybe 15% followed up by 15% in two years may work better. This is the sort of thing we should all go for. The operator is then going to have to do so to recoup it. With salaries in the 45000 to 65000 for general VFR flying in Australia currently it is time we banned together and got those salaries up. CHC and BRISTOW are on the right track by the sound of it. Time for everyone else to follow suit. Any ideas chaps? Cheers
|
"it is time we banned together and got those salaries up"..... Keep it up In2wind, you are making me fall off my chair laughing, if you haven't noticed yet helicopter pilots are not like the three musketeers, we are more like white ants where we start at the bottom and work our way up and F**K everything in the process.
OK I won't go on any more but are you in a union or a federation?? Why don't you just storm over to the local flying school and picket out the front with your new pals from pprune you are so keen to recruit. :{ :{ :{ |
