Would anyone care if the aircraft were owned by someone more anonymous? Of course they wouldn't, hence my comment. I find the ridiculous adulation or vilification of someone because they're in the news or 'famous' quite nauseating.

Thanks for your positive answers and contribution.
My only advice is don't get sucked into standard irrelevant interweb trolling - best ignored. Regards Steve |

I think they'd be lucky to get their $875K asking price.
|
But he's famous Gulli, which adds value to the merchandise, Michael Jordan got $560,000 for a pair of sneakers, Darth Vader’s helmet went for $898,420, a General Lee 1969 Charger from "The Dukes of Hazzard," owned by actor John Schneider, sold for a whopping $9,900,500. Put it on Sotherbys. :p

I know I want to look away I just can’t. |
You can't even buy a used 206L-4 for their asking price for the S76B. Goes to show how whacky the used helicopter market is. It might be a good money maker if you could find a contract for it which has a good standing charge and low flying rate.

I couldn't get more than $350k USD each for a couple of nice low time B models a few years ago, even though they needed some calendar items attended to. I think they went for parts in the end. Anyone who pays a premium because this aircraft was owned by someone famous has more money than sense in this market for a 31 year old S-76B. It's sad, I am a huge fan of the S-76.

"B" banger. Hard to get parts for them. Worked with the lads in Wiking in .de a few years back and they seemed to be the "go to" guys for 76 support in Europe and they really struggled to get parts and were "manufacturing" a lot "in house".
For a small shop it was pretty impressive and their own A++ mostly had more than 20K hours on them. Never really worked on 76's but in passing to me they all seemed to individual and "hand made". Just sayin'. |

S76B
S76B - what a machine.
It is a lot of helicopter for the money. Only made 101 of them so rare😎 |
Operated a 76B for 6 years, loved every minute. Plenty of power, glass cockpit, FADEC, and the slurping sound of those engines sucking fuel didn't worry the boss.

I heard a funny story quite a few years ago about the Princeof Brunei's 76 and it's Malachite coffee table... Any of the Sikorsky guys know the story that could do a good job of telling it? I'm afraid it's been too long since I heard it to not butcher the story ( of extreme excess ).

Heard say N76DT had a buyer, inspection revealed a shot keel beam. Bye bye deal.
