Police Helicopter Bird Strike

The Dallas Police helicopter had a severe bird strike but other then minor injuries, except for the bird, all safe.

Lucky they had 2 pilots onboard (according to that video) ;)

Must be a bad week for them the same unit took out two ducks without damage or injury last week with a different jockey.

This time it was a Coot through the pilots screen.

Not life threatening in itself but the pilot was certainly disabled as far as flying goes.

Lucky they had that Duck tape on hand.

Visor use encouraged.

It really pays to have your visor down. Especially when flying single pilot.

Nice one Frenchy and a speedy recovery to Todd :ok:

Report with video interviews here;
DPD Helicopter Pilot Recovering After Coot Crashes Through Windshield | NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

I know that Frenchy is a licensed pilot, but I remember an old saying from my crewman days;

Q: what would you do if your pilot became incapacitated?
A: 1.5 solo
