I found his posts and photos fantastic and looked forward to them.
All the best to Vertical Freedom wherever you are.

Last I heard, he was back in Oz but that was some time ago.

Bokyag 12th Oct 2022 02:34

I think he posts as Rotors99 on the ozzy rotary forum website

unknown.mp3 12th Oct 2022 02:47

I previously had him on FB, but now it seems has has gone offline on all platforms.

EMS R22 12th Oct 2022 07:45

Last I heard he was working for Robinson as a sales rep…

Ascend Charlie 12th Oct 2022 11:14

A pilot who can land a chopper above 20,000' in such conditions would be unlikely to slow down as he passed the Robinson saleyard. But with a name of EMS R22, I suspect he is having a larf.

Nigerian Expat Outlaw 12th Oct 2022 11:15

Great shame, I guess we all looked forward to his photos. Spectacular.

Covid a major impact on tourism especially in places like Nepal. I spend a lot of time in SE Asia and am only now returning to spend six months there. My research has tracked him down to Darwin but it may be out of date. His pictures were spectacular to say the least and certainly worthy of a book to illustrate that environment day to day. He is certainly missed on Pprune. In terms of his falling foul of the mods I find that hard to believe as these sites need content to survive.

You may find it hard to believe, but it is true. Everyone who was there at the time knows. I think the mods felt that he was pushing an agenda with posts that had nothing to do with helicopters or aviation. They gave him a hard time about it, and he said, "who needs this?" and walked.

I have seen popular discussion sites fold in the past through over moderation. To quote English author Evelyn Beatrice Hall from 1906 but often attributed to Voltaire.“I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

Whatever you may think of Vertical Freedom he brought some great pictures to this otherwise mundane corner of Pprune.

Bravo73 13th Oct 2022 22:31

“Mundane corner”?

Oi, we resemble that comment. 🤣

Mike Flynn 14th Oct 2022 06:30

It was a tongue in cheek remark👍

EMS R22 14th Oct 2022 07:40

I think it was the covid propaganda that did it!

Each to their own!!

I’m another that miss his posts. Always enjoyed his story.

compressor stall 3rd Dec 2022 10:30

Yep, can confirm no longer on WhatsApp - even after he moved back to OZ.

He and his missus took great care of us and our three young kids when we went to Nepal trekking for 10 weeks.

For that I’m always grateful. Great pics on here too!

Seaking74 4th Dec 2022 12:07

Damn, I miss VF, especially when I come across an Everest documentary. Hope he & his family are well.

Thank you so much for your amazing pictures! I flew in Nepal Airlines from Mid 2018 to end 2020... every flight was wonderful and every day magical... yes there were a lot of issues with administration and salaries... still pending after a year ... but I look back at the experience and thank the stars I could finish my flying career in Nepal... love the pilots especially the first officers and cabin crew I flew with and am still in touch with them.. I might add a few of my own pictures later... still sorting out my life post retirement.

You can find him at @FreedomVertical on twitter. Big into flat earth conspiracy these days apart from other interests.
Loved his photos but sometimes mods know what they are doing.

That's a shame, but I can't say that I'm too surprised.
