Hope these aren't too gruesome questions for this forum but I was talking to a couple of people who have been on Everest and the mention of the number of injuries / body's up there. Who pays for these current rescues / body recoveries ? Who pays if a body is brought down of a person who died a long time ago 5 + 40 years ago ? In that situation would it be walked / carried down ? . |
VF
Thanks for the great photos; fly safe WLM |

Thanks for the great feedback, many thanks to You all. It is these comments that encourage more pix postings. :ok::ok::ok:
As far as I am aware 99% of live or dead ultra high altitude rescues/recoveries are covered by insurance. Any death's above about 19/20,000' not flown out are never carried down, but left there for the Mountain Crows. :ooh::ooh::ooh: Happy Landings:D:cool:;) VF |

19.400' in a Jet Ranger, you must be very patient man and that nearly 9000' drop in 1 nm.... is that what you call steep approach? :E
|
Top of the World
Hey Rotorrookie
hehehe that 19,400' pass in the JetBanger is only used when conditions are good & the load is MUCH less (1 or 2 pax) otherwise she'll never ever get there....even at 20kts :ouch: AS350 high altitude work - back to Earth steep approaches are actually VNE dives with flat pitch... that end up as a flatish approach with no ROD on short finals to a quick stop over the pad (is the approach I prefer these days - no surprises & easier to manage on arrival) :ooh::ooh::ooh::ok::D OmOmOm  VF |
