I miss my daily bit of escapism , all the posts and pictures where interesting and I learned a lot about high altitude operations

timprice 7th Feb 2019 10:12

Nothing surprises me anymore, I thought the moderator would delete or edit unwanted material, not cut the guy off, really interesting pictures from a gentleman with a vast amount of experience we could all learn from.
Who cares if he is a vegan! does not make him a bad chap, everybody is entitled to his or her's opinion besides this is a rumour network after all:ugh:

Fareastdriver 7th Feb 2019 10:24

I don't think VF has been banned. He would have had a 'Banned' label across his name. Maybe he has his own reasons for stopping; it's not our job to find out why.

GrayHorizonsHeli 7th Feb 2019 12:54

if the Mods kept warning me, or deleting my pictures with a thin rule to justify it, I too would flip the bird and leave just out of spite.

I would hope he sees the support from the people here and comes back, he will be welcomed by the vast majority, save for a net nanny moderator

blackdog7 7th Feb 2019 15:06

"Who cares if he is a vegan! does not make him a bad chap, everybody is entitled to his or her's opinion besides this is a rumour network after all."

Being a Vegan makes VF far more ethical than most others on this site. If you think that killing and dismembering a sentient being, eating its body or drinking it's milk which is solely intended for it's offspring is normal, you are pretty mixed up. Next time try some dog milk in your tea.

Wrong form of moderation. What a shame. Take care VF.

DOUBLE BOGEY 7th Feb 2019 15:52

"Dog Milk" now there's an idea to make my Cocker pay its own way!!!
I love Vegans. It leaves more steak and chicken wings for the rest of us.

T18 9th Feb 2019 12:12

Checks forum - sighs, nothing from VF.
Not even a motor bike, scantily clad lady or or other appetising dishes.

Oh or helicopter!

gulliBell 9th Feb 2019 12:19

Some of us know where he is, and why he's not here. I hope he'll come back, but doubt he will, for good reason.

Saint Jack 10th Feb 2019 01:07

And the mystery deepens.........

RotorBabe 10th Feb 2019 01:35

Namaste followers of top of the world. Mr Steven vertical has just now contacted me and said he really appreciates everyone's support. He is trying to post but is still blocked from posting pictures. Very disappointing and childish behavior from the management of this forum. This is my favorite visit for amazing views of my country and interesting posts my Mr Vertical.

To echo Rotorbabe and others,

I also spoke to VF a few days ago. Considering its one of if not the highest viewed threads Pprune and the time he has put into sharing his life and adventures in Nepal for all to enjoy, he is extremely disappointed and cannot understand why he is being targeted. C'mon management lighten up.

dash34 10th Feb 2019 08:08

This thread is bigger than just PPRUNE. I direct people here when they ask what Nepal is like. If anyone asks what the best forum on the internet is, I show them this one. The mods need to give their collective heads a shake. So, please add my name to those who want to see VF's photo-posting ability re-instated. There are, after all, helicopter pictures here.

I am a glider pilot/instructor but I really appreciate the insight into the world of a professional helicopter pilot that this thread has provided, not to mention nostalgia for past fantastic trips to Nepal!

Rotorbee 10th Feb 2019 09:20

Dear mods,
I think, if a helicopter pilot posts pictures of his daily life on his job, including yoga, food and a lot of cool helicopter shoots, it is still about a helicopter pilots life. What happens if for some reason, we are going to talk about the prefect food to get through a day of flying? With pictures and recipes? Are we going to be blocked, just we share knowledge and opinions between rotorheads that are not directly related to flying? PPruNe is a place where we hang out because we know find people here, who understand, what it is about. But the life of a pilot isn't about flying all the time. VF has posted by far enough helicopter pictures, stories and know how. There is no need for another tail rotor hanging out over a cliff just to satisfy the forum rules. We got that and it is a good idea.
I really do appreciate the pictures from ground level. All the places we have seen through VF's lenses, that only a few other people will ever have the chance to see and almost all these pictures are somehow related to helicopters. He is a rotorhead after all.
His pictures and posts paint a much better image, than all the glossy magazines together.
I really would appreciate, that this unique thread comes back to life.

cattletruck 10th Feb 2019 09:42

I've always found VF's posts to be in the main quite positive (even the Robbie bashing :E), I'm even guilty of downloading some of his incredible photos too. Thanks mate!!!!

However, the innocent freedoms provided by a digital world also facilitate litigious avenues for the unscrupulous, and perhaps there is something more sinister brewing at a commercial level that doesn't allow discussion.

Occasionally I've been a bit reckless and perhaps a bit too emotional with some of my posts. I've had posts, threads and even my account deleted here, but I just took a step back, accepted that the site is not mine, and that these kinds of issues tend to sort themselves out eventually.

I'm sure VF will be back if he doesn't take it too personally for not given a reason for being sent to the sin-bin. Until then, to paraphrase the man himself - always keep it sunny side up. :ok:

DOUBLE BOGEY 10th Feb 2019 12:19

Its very difficult to believe that VF has been restricted because of pictures of food and rotor babes. It just does not make any sense. I also think this has been the best thread on the forum for years now and must have brought in an awful lot of advertising views along the way.
Its also very strange that MODs have not posted here for some clarity.
Brexit, Moon Landings and now this. The world has gone mad again!

aa777888 10th Feb 2019 23:12

I suspect this all started when the mods deleted his photos of his seminar and the accompanying scary crash photos. I seem to remember this resulted in a major philosophical difference between VF and the mod's.

nomorehelosforme 11th Feb 2019 02:46

As more posts of support continue to come in for Steve(VF) has anybody contacted Senior Pilot for comment or clarification of the situation?

As has been mentioned in a few posts... advertising revenue for the site is driven by SEO(Search Engine Optimization)

VF’s thread must top revenue to the site... and as previously asked by others why no comments from Senior Pilot?

gulliBell 11th Feb 2019 09:01

Senior Pilot (moderator) has no input to his forum post count status etc...as I understand it the difficulties are at a higher level (Admin). To get any of his photos posted here VF must PM them to moderator who will then put them up. Or if VF posts a link to a photo it automatically gets bumped to a queue for moderator scrutiny before it will appear to everybody else. Which to my way of thinking is poor spirit considering his contributions here over many years and thus he might be inclined to venture to other places to enjoy other pursuits. No-one would blame him for that. Enjoy the humidity and cold Bintang VF.

(At present VF can't post, or send/receive PM's)

oleary 12th Feb 2019 05:29

Steve (VF)

I am deeply disappointed that PPrune has decided to end Steve's contributions to our world.

I spent a lifetime in this industry with 22K+ hours over 54 years - single, mountain, multi, IFR, offshore, night Arctic, night Arctic slinging.

Vertical Flight was my favourite site.

With respect, please include me in those who would lobby for Steve's return.

heli kiwi 12th Feb 2019 06:01

Bugger, I too have enjoyed his posts. Add my name as well.

Old Farang 12th Feb 2019 06:14

Enjoy the humidity and cold Bintang VF.
Hmm, not much humidity OR Bintang in Nepal.

gulliBell 12th Feb 2019 09:07

He 'aint in Nepal. Trust me on that.

Capt Fathom 12th Feb 2019 09:41

He 'aint in Nepal.
I believe that was Old Farang’s point as well ;)

etudiant 12th Feb 2019 21:17

One of VF's last posts spoke of the real economic challenges of operating in Nepal. He hinted that he might be moving to a more 'normal' environment.
Wherever he and his family have moved to, all I can say is "Thank You!".

nigelh 12th Feb 2019 21:39

Get a load of people together and set up a new site which he can post on and all stop posting on here . If the management don't want us we can move .....

gulliBell 12th Feb 2019 22:17

Rest assured he's enjoying his current abode, and some deserved time off. Perhaps nose buried in the books in anticipation of driving something a bit bigger and noisier.

Thank you for this update. I'm delighted to hear it.
VF really brightened our days with the glorious vistas he posted and the super down to earth images he balanced them with.
If he is gone, it is very much this site's loss.

gulliBell 13th Feb 2019 03:59

I'm sure he felt the love from all, minus one.

Rotorbee 13th Feb 2019 05:49

Dear gulliBell
Would you mind to ask VF, if you could reveal the big secret you are hiding from us? One more hint and I track you down and ... and ... and I paint your fingernails pink ... with blue bunnies.
What is so secret about VF's new job? Avengers? Columbian import-export?
Or is he one of the Avengers now?

Capt Fathom 13th Feb 2019 05:59

VF has been lurking around here occasionally, but has chosen to 'stay Mum' on the matter! :oh:

RotorBabe 13th Feb 2019 09:00

Namaste vertical freedom supporters Mr steven just contacted me, he can see everything on this forum and he can also log in. but he just cannot post here and cannot receive pm messages from this site or send them. What is the problem with Stevens posts? he has so many happy followers and good feedbacks, yet someone there doesn't like the following he receives and continues to block him? He asked me to say that he is on a extended holiday enjoy a tropical island life before returning to flying dutys

Thanks for the update, RB. I like everyone here miss his posts and find this forum and indeed all of PPRuNe a bit poorer for it. Take care and good luck, VF!

same here, he fposted great photos!

gulliBell 2nd Mar 2019 04:36

Rest assured to all here that VF is well fed and watered and is giddy with oxygen saturation and salt air in his present abode. As much as he would like to continue to contribute to the most popular topic in the Rotorheads forum (i.e. his own) regrettably he is blocked from doing so, but I'm sure he's thinking of you all.

Evey_Hammond 2nd Mar 2019 08:46

I’m missing VF like crazy! He was a “Facebook friend” of mine and I loved following his adventures, family & so on, but he’s disappeared for some reason :{

Please, VF, come back or tell us where we can find you & your stunning photos. I’m fascinated with Nepal and I miss your posts so much there’s a gaping hole.

Namaste to you & yours VF :)

Fareastdriver 2nd Mar 2019 09:31

It's a computer glitch, either accidental or deliberate.

VF shows only one post against his nom de plume. The system is such that you cannot post pictures or use the PM facility until you have a certain number of posts.

Somebody in PPRuNe needs to reset his post count to what it is supposed to be..

Capt Fathom 2nd Mar 2019 09:32

Namaste Capt Bell and friends of Capt Vertical
I met Stephan last night and he would like me to pass on his appreciation to well wishers and supporters. His posts do not join a queue for approving, he cannot sendor receive the private messeges, he is blocked from any postings. Is there something we can do as a group to help get him put back on line so he can post great pictures again? thank you
OM MANE PADME HUNG

gulliBell 17th Mar 2019 13:05

I'm advocating to get him on a 412 as a consolation prize for his PPRuNe difficulties. Keep trucking away VF and the twin time will come soon, let's hope. At least you have the flight manual for now, study hard.
