Congratulations

Good day Steven Dai

Congratulations on making in the news about your photography and all the best for the upcoming photo book that will include all the wonderful pictures that you have shared with us on the forum.:D

I knew that someday you would be noticed by the media for your wonderful work of sharing the pictures and your contribution towards making Nepal known to the world. You have done more work advertising Nepal through your pictures than what NTB (Nepal Tourism Board) has. Thank you for sharing your world with us. By the way, did you switch to Manang Air, as that is what the article says?

For interested folks, here is the link to the news article. The news is in Nepali but there are some wonderful pictures that we have not seen on this thread.

Looks right, flies right .....

That looks, um ....

I assume it was flown?

Peter-RB 31st Jan 2015 10:01

Oop's,
surely that would cause a 1 per revolution imbalance that would be seriously bad for any TR set up or structure.. wouldn't it ? that cant be legal .??:ouch:

Hallo VF,

must have been a Pilot with a very numb backside and feet to not feel vibrations that crack a tailboom and carry on flying:eek:

Tell him to see a doctor:}

Vertical Freedom 3rd Feb 2015 05:06

a penny spent today on maintenance; saves massive $$$ in the future

Hey Evil7

Pedal buzz was there for a loooooooooog time :ugh:(which wouldn't balance out) CE refused to acknowledge a problem till the crack reared it's frighteningly ugly head & tore 13' around the boom  hence I was not flying it for long time. An almost catastrophic disaster forced them to replace the boom & TR blade linkages :D

Hi Steve,
I am relieved you are not flying that heap of trashcan material, for if in developing that size of crack what else nearer to the Donk has also been subject to similar oscillations but possibly accelerated due to the length of the arm inducing neg/pos stress
Almost suicidal maintenance...or should I say "Lack of knowledge on spinning machinery will create cracks" that denotes failure, that denotes death if flown.
CE should be the one to test fly.....:ugh:

VF - Old CE here, I thought it was customary (ie good practice) to fit T/R pitch links in pairs? And, of course, by the right P/N from the IPC, supplied by the OEM. And the other pointer that something is amiss is the Vibrex or 8500 imbalance issue. The technology NEVER lies; sometimes a little obscure, but you have to believe it and/or call or e-m the OEM. (Bell are one of the best at such matters, their database of 'sniggles' that don't respond to standard maintenance is legendary). And it's free too.

Well, thank goodness the aircraft was robust enough and did not fail in flight. Some lessons learned, I hope. Best - VFR

VF, how did the "wrong" pitch link get into the Fishtail procurement system? I understand you only fly one variant of JetRanger so how did someone get a wrong part number to order, or did the supplier get it wrong? If you've got a bogus part please let us know the details, supplier etc. so that others don't get caught out. Incredible that a "Chief Engineer" could ignore such a massive high frequency vibration for so long. Can I submit my resume?

Vertical Freedom 5th Feb 2015 13:32

Blind Profiteering led to this....which actually caused massive lo$$e$ :ugh:

What happens (during scheduled maintenance?) if a few nuts & bolts are left on the intake lip of a C20J???

nuthin 6th Feb 2015 01:04

good opportunity for that L4?

Note the damage on the blades, following indigestion of the nuts that hold the sleeve on between the particle separator & intake......should've been a bit more careful assembling after routine inspection := (water droplets after a wash down)
