What is it like to train from novice to CPL (H) in other places than the UK??

Hi all,

Have recently been looking to a career as a helicopter pilot, I have no flying experience. It is so expensive in the UK so some one reccomeded Bristow in the US. It seems to be a lot cheaper, and employment after completion seems to have better chances.

As well as this, I am aware that the helicopter industry at the moment is such a hard one to break into, however I would be looking to qualify in about 2.5 - 3 years. I know it is such an open ended question but do you think the employment oppurtunities will be better in 3 years time?

Lastly, has anyone been to Bristow? I want to know how people pay for the course and afford to live as well (I.E. Pay bills, eat etc) as you are working full time. Any one got any tips or advice reguarding this career path and where to go and train.

Thank you!

A49,

Welcome to Rotorheads! You will see at the top of the Forum page So you want to be a Helicopter Pilot: many of your queries will be answered by reading it and the associated links :)

If you use the Search button at the top of the page, you will find plenty to read about Bristow, and Bristow training in Florida. If you have questions to ask after reading them, please post them in an existing thread. Good luck :ok:
