S92 parked "off the airfield"

Come on 212 man spill the beans, fleet grounded..another Main gear box problem...smoke in the cockpit...

NorthSeaTiger 14th May 2008 09:05

Where about has said S-92 been parked ?

quichemech 14th May 2008 12:34

At a rough guess I would say Brunei:rolleyes:

malabo 14th May 2008 13:12

Any chance of another "S92 swinging underneath an S64" series of photos, or maybe a YouTube video of the "grand dangle"?

What's the connection with the previous one? Base location?

Well done again guys, with the tranny gone and smoke in the cockpit you got it safely down. Things can go wrong and as pilots we all hope that when our time comes to be tested we can make the right choices and enjoy another day.

212man 14th May 2008 16:14

No comment other than to agree with Malabo's last comment :ok:

Whirly Boy 14th May 2008 17:19

What a small world. Words spread fast in the aviation world.

Kudos to the crews. At least they manage to land the heli in one piece. :ok:

2 down, 1 to go....

sox6 14th May 2008 20:03

Do Shell still allow their crews to be picked up in old techology 212s these days?:\

212man 15th May 2008 02:13

Of course - that's how I got home in January. The last crew came home by car though

DECUFAULT 15th May 2008 06:37

212 man look on the brightside you have plenty of time to drive the new car...:p Let the old 332 do the work....:ok:

Skycop 15th May 2008 07:28

I thought this type was put forward for "The President's choice".....surely these transmission reliability worries put that in some slight doubt.....

:E

212man 15th May 2008 12:47

I can say it was day 1, sector 1 of line training for the PF - pretty harsh of the LTC to inject that I thought :E

Whirly Boy 15th May 2008 14:58

That's very funny 212man :) I bet the LTC almost soiled himself too....

DryAir 15th May 2008 23:02

now can we buy back the 61's?

nbl 16th May 2008 09:06

Anyone of the above posters care to enlighten the rest of Rotorheads what happened - if not you may as well privately email each other.

Yeah come on spill the beans. It would be very interesting - especially for those, like me, who are also flying this machine every day, and have heard absolutely zip about any incident!

I add my request, not flying the 92, but another "A" model... :E

Horror box 17th May 2008 09:37

OK, just saw the release from Sikorsky yesterday when I went into work, so maybe I spoke too soon. Good work getting down, and a bit more realism for a line training flight!
Lets hope this isn't a trend, as I dont fancy ditching too much in the North Sea, without Sea State 6 floats wired up yet.

If you're a smoker, maybe take a spare pack of fags with you, and perhaps a thermos flask - will be good for moral as you bob about in your life raft!

Sorry no more constructive input (now there's a pun!) - there's no way I could comment. Rest assured everyone's attention is well and truly focussed.

MyTarget 17th May 2008 19:24

Heard a rumour that the chc 92 in ABZ might be relocating! Apache offer'd something else.

HeliCraig 17th May 2008 21:36

Horror Box, now you have seen the bulletin from Sikorsky - perhaps you (or someone else) can enlighten the rest of us??

NorthSeaTiger 17th May 2008 23:34

Really ? Apache had enough ? No other interested parties , wheres it relocating to ?

DECUFAULT 18th May 2008 01:53

Shell Brunei S92A landed off the air field, onshore, due to another MGB hot warning with no oil pressure, they may have had another rash of warning, but I don't know, with some smoke/mist in the cockpit/cabin. Well done to the crew... All S92 in Brunei Shell grounded.

Sikorsky issued this..

Sikorsky Aircraft has been advised of an incident in which an S-92 experienced a loss of main gearbox oil
pressure and increased main gearbox oil temperature. As a result of a previous gearbox investigation
following a similar incident, Sikorsky issued Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 92-63-008 to inspect the main
gearbox oil dipstick tube for proper length.
Sikorsky Aircraft is working with the customer to determine the root cause of both these events. If any
additional fleet actions are deemed necessary, they will be disseminated to the affected portion of the fleet
by an appropriate Alert Service Bulletin.
If you have any questions, please contact your Field Service Representative or Customer Service
Engineering at 1-800-WINGED S or (203) 386-3001.
Very truly yours

tick...tock

I think G-CHCK may end up being the third 92 in Miri. I wonder if it's reliability will improve once it arrives :oh:

Time will tell..............

Bit of a trend developing in Brunei, I seriously wonder what the common factor is??

Time will tell..............

MyTarget 18th May 2008 07:35

:ooh:

I think G-CHCK may end up being the third 92 in Miri
Makes sense!

Blackhawk9 18th May 2008 11:31

We'll have G-CHCK here in Oz if no one wants her to go with "Alice" (VH-LOH) , I'd be quite happy with a second 92 over a Super Puss.

pumaboy 18th May 2008 21:09

Whats wrong with a Super Puss :{:{:{

DryAir 20th May 2008 19:49

Bristow ABZ

Reject S92 from Aberdeen for Miri? Will this leave any S92 in Aberdeen?
Hear a rumour Bristow's going to get one possibly two S92's at the end of this year :ok:

MyTarget 21st May 2008 11:17

And a S92 sim too

212man 21st May 2008 14:01

and a S92 sim too
Some people have really got their ears to the ground - such new and unheard of rumours. Is that one or two, or twenty one or twenty two? The sim will look nice next to the 225 sim - oh, have I let the cat out of the bag?

rotor-rooter 21st May 2008 22:04

What's all this about CHC and Shell talking about Brunei?

Very interesting indeed!

chcoffshore 22nd May 2008 16:56

Really:confused: Spill the beans!

212man 23rd May 2008 02:39

CHC are providing limited support, alongside MHS, from Miri, as part of the mutual support that exists between BSP and Shell Malaysia. I wouldn't read any further than that!

s92dcu 23rd May 2008 13:10

Parked Brunei Shell S92 ready to be lifted back to anduki using Skycrane S64.:D

NorthSeaTiger 29th May 2008 09:20

So what's happening with G-CHCK ? Is it staying in ABZ or is it going ? Or is it gone already, haven't seen it for a while now !

NST

steve_oc 29th May 2008 12:35

It's in bed recovering from a main gearbox and head change. Back soon.

Data Dad 29th May 2008 19:49

G-CHCK was out of bed and doing ground runs today....

DECUFAULT 30th May 2008 09:47

The S64 skycrane was up early this weekend...lifted the S92 home...again..

MyTarget 4th Jun 2008 17:09

Is it going or not! Rumours are it will leave ABZ next year?

MyTarget 28th Jun 2008 09:48

Well i heard its staying now! But it might be going LoL:}
