These pictures were posted on a thread about the Mi-24 earlier this year.
Many new members have joined since then and I thought they were worth adding to this collection. ========================== By Gunship Here goes my baby http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PPRuNe/DSC02754.JPG Tx BLENDERPILOT .... after all these hassles with different sites - your really work ! Many many thanks ! Here is one over my "hometown" :) http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PPRuNe/DSC02662.JPG Well here is my "rear - end" maybe there are some tail gunners around :o http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PPRuNe/DSC02730.JPG ... Note ... This was for a Parade as we have peace now ... note ... no 80 mm rockets inside the pods :) But ... the 12,7 mm - 4 barrell gattling in the nose is ALWAYS loaded ;) Here is our Mi-24 Runway being used by a Mi-26. It is approximately 300 metres long and at sea level. What you see next to the helipad is a “creek” with seawater and a 5 mile long beach just past it. The forklift is a 20 ton container forklift ... just to get an idea... she is massive ! http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PP...AirMASSIVE.jpg By tecpilot on the same thread. http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PP...cpilotmi24.jpg Taken in the hot and dusty Arizona desert during the exercise "Desert Rescue 2000" ================== And by BlenderPilot http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PP...obaticHind.jpg Mi-24 HIND |
Thanks to BlenderPilot, here a few shots of the B47 I spray in. B47-G2A. It's equipped with a AgNav GPS, smoker, hydraulic spray system, and Crop Hawk spray computer.
http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PP...lingOffPad.jpg These were taken while spraying winter and spring weeds. This allows the farmer to simply plant the next crop and save valuble soil moisture. http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PP...yingSpring.jpg It takes about six minutes to put out a load and then back to the trailer for another one. If all I need is product I can be rolling off the pad in 60 seconds or so. These were taken while carrying 60 gallons of spray. The B47 wouldn't hover up off the ground like the picture shows so we simply pull power and roll off the pad by adding forward cyclic. The brown grass behind the truck has already been sprayed, planted, and the milo is just starting to come up. That's why we sprayed this field with the 47 to keep from injuring the emerging crop. http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PPRuNe/SmallPad.jpg This is my other ride. A little bit faster and will haul quite a bit more. Working speed is 140 to 150 with 500 gallons. http://homepage.mac.com/helipilot/PPRuNe/1995Ayers.jpg |

With many thanks to John Eacott for his trouble, the original images are very low res, so its not Johns fault they are a bit rough round the edges!

Hey Nick!
Any old ABC photos? I clearly remember stepping out during a class break during WOCD and seeing this very cool thing shoot across the sky and then climb very steep and fast. Everyone one of us junior birdmen stood with our mouths hanging open.
The coax thread reminded me. |

With yet more grateful thanks to John Eacott, I can now put a couple of pics online from my last job in the military. The first shows what happens when you let Bell engineers work on a Bolkow:
http://www.eacott.com.au/gallery/d/3...o105+small.JPG ...While the second shows how seriously we used to take formation practice (well, there wasn't much else to do...). Number 3 was sacked for not sorting out his main rotor position. http://www.eacott.com.au/gallery/d/3...+formation.JPG Ta again John |
Thud and blunder, I can't believe that a professional pilot would allow his rotors to be so far out of phase with the other two aircraft, good that you "sacked" him, can't have that kind of sloppy behavior in the unit ! :D :p
P.S. #2 should have descended 1 foot as well, perhaps a written warning is in order?, |
How about a quick tug on the rotorbrake, that might get them in line :D :D

After seeing Blenderpilot's pics from Mexico, I think we need a special category for "Chicks and Choppers"!

That's the best I can do for chicks & choppers - unfortunately they're mostly covered up with Nomex!

That's Claire (L) and Isobel with MY torch!.
Keep your pants on T_richard, Claire's going out with my base pilot, and Isobel is happily married to a guy twice your size :p Squirrel, were you flying VIH C-FBER on the fires? I was down with 407 ALM every few days poaching work off you guys. |
Another Catenary Photo
I am not sure who is in this shot. It may be during training as the pad was designed for a JetRanger.
One of the previous pilots that tried using the Astar for this same pad admitted to getting into severe resonance. Not a good place to be, surrounded by wires, 700 feet AGL and 4400 feet ASL. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...glacier-LA.jpg |
RH, the morale being?...never send an EC product to do a Bell's job????? :p
|
:D Just the response I expected! :ok:
|
Now, now guys...
BELL SUCKS!!!!!! |
Well thought and learned response C4, keep those professional comments comming :p
C-RH, you can always count on me, and (evidently) you can always predict me too ! On a more professional note, it IS interesting that an Astar , or possibly any other multi-blade system prone to ground resonance, couldn't safely land there. I wonder what the 407 would do in that situation? It is NOT prone to ground resonance in normal Ops, possibly due to the method of mounting the rear skid tube to the fuselage. PS. I just had a beer with JR, fresh out of Eugene OR, and now settling in Canmore AB. |
