It was very kind of T-T-O to post some of my photos. It was the hangar in Poroma, probably taken in 1986. The Puma Js and BV107s moved from Tari to Poroma in 86 working for Chevron.

he1iaviator I hope you don't mind me posting your pics on this thread. I saw them elsewhere on pprune & thought them an interesting addition to those already here.
I've been in touch with some ex BHL people who are going to send me some of their photos to post but in the mean time if you or anyone else has anymore keep adding them. thanks TTO |

Just been having a browse through this thread and thought that some of you may be interested to see this. It's ZH 814 owned and maintained by FBH, operated by the AAC in Brunei. In former lives it was in Bristow's colours and registered as (amongst others) VR-HGL, EP-HBU and G-BGMH. My collegues and I fly this and 2 others now (814 has 30,000 hrs+!) and I'm trying to have a print made featuring this one as it's our oldest. If anyone out there can provide any accurate history for it, it would be much appreciated. I've asked FBH themselves but they're obviously too busy to get back to me (probably trying to source another 212 since we lost one in Belize last month!) Happy flying! |
Bernouli's what?
I may be doing something wrong (i'm not very familiar with face book) but I can't access your picture without logging on to face book which i can't do because I'm not a member. Try right clicking on the image, selecting properties, highlighting the url address shown & copying it. then edit your post, clicking the insert image icon: http://www.pprune.org/forums/images/...nsertimage.gif and entering the copied url there. Then we should all be able to see it. looking at the url you supply it may be very similar to this one: http://www.7newsbelize.com/grc/news/090505b.jpg This is the Bell 212 31170 ZJ965 ex 9V-BMG, ex 5N-ALS, ex G-BJGU, w/o 05/09/2007 in Belize see Bell 212 crash - Belize thread for more details From the same thread there is also this the sister ship: ZJ964 s/n 31171 ex 9V-BMH, ex G-BJGV, ex 5N-ALT, ex G-BJGV http://www.pbase.com/glane606/image/86569513.jpg |
Tail take-off
Thanks for the tip, it should work now! Seen the Belize pics already and I'm fully up to speed on that story! :ok: |
what's the deal with the camoflauge paint job, but then the bright orange? or can you change the bright orange cowls when required?
|
Bernouli's what?
ZH814 is also bristow's oldest 212 (infact oldest aircraft) although not the earliest one they ever had sn 30504 was abandoned in Iran following the revolution in 1979. Built in 1971 your aircraft was utilised on many bristow operations around the world including Indonesia, Iran, UK, Nigeria, Trinidad and was also regitered in Bermuda as were all the Bristow overseas aircraft at one time. It's departure from Iran following the revolution is an interesting story which can be found in the bristow book "Leading fron the front". http://209.196.171.35/images/iran212slorries.jpg http://209.196.171.35/images/212s_redhill_big.jpg http://209.196.171.35/images/redhill11212s.jpg |
Army a/c in non-combat and training role, hence the cam paint scheme.
As for the day-glow orange....try finding a down-bird in the jungle or swamp without them. Orange bits can be easily removed if required. |

nodrama,
cheers, that's what I thought, thanks for confirming |
Bernouli's what?
Nice picture, how long ago was it taken? |
Anyone know what happened to Bristow Bell212 G-BOEP? I flew it in Australia in 1993 as VH-BEU. Last heard of in Nigeria registered 5N-BEN but I don't think there are any 212s there anymore. |
chc,
I took that pic about 3 months ago at a site known as LP414 in the southern Ulu Labi, Brunei. I'll put in a couple more (as they're ex-Bristow aircraft, I guess it's relevant to this thread) http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/phot...368861_564.jpg http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/phot...368860_202.jpg These were both taken during a mountain flying trip to the Mulu National Park in Sarawak in July this year. |
Thanks!:ok:
|
as they're ex-Bristow aircraft Please do post some more photos of them. They are indeed relevant.:ok: |
I had the honour of taking ZH814 through 30000 flying hours, it clocked it whilst sat in a river in the Temburong area of Brunei. Hope the photos work............photobucket virgin alert!!

Blimey it worked, thanks for the instructions Heliport
|
ZH814 may be the oldest 212 and 30000 hours is indeed a huge milestone for any helicopter but it is not the highest houred 212. 9Y-TEY has over 32000 hours as does G-BFER. Quite which component is the origional I'm not sure perhaps just the manufacturer's serial number plate.

Speaking of Brunei, here's one of the Sperry AFCS equipped 212s. Seletar Singapore, before delivery. 1980'ish.
PS. The reg above the Att Ind appears to read AMDB 131. PPS. Second thoughts, I think it's 132. Whatever. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b270/cumpas/212.jpg |
All the other photos from Bristow ops UNST-Ninian Field 1977-1993 have shown up here so we might as well have this one to complete the set:ok:

This Photo of EP-HAM ,a very fickle Agusta 204B with a Gnome engine, taken in 1974 in Bushehr Iran ,may bring (mixed) memories to some of the oldies out there.http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...dsPhotos56.jpg

The picture of G-AVII brings back some memories alright! I had Steve Bell and Steve Menham (Dave Price did a couple of sorties, too) for an IR course a few years ago
