Wasn't there a thread here a while back about hairy landing sites? WOW.

:D :D :D

SilsoeSid 14th Apr 2007 13:32

Hairy....how can you tell? :E

Sorry.....just saw the 'landing sites'!

SS, did you "go away" for a while? I seem to not recall much from you lately.

Any progress on the round-the-world-in-a-gyroplane fiasco from a while back?

Some old scans ...

Some scans of G-BIMU exercising with MV Isle of Lewis during the first weeks of her entry into service on the Stornoway to Ullapool crossing, August 1995.
Also a few of G-SASB at Gairloch to pick up a German motorcyclist who had had an off on a bend a few miles to the north, August 2005.

Trying out my new photobucket account (RTC just north of Dunsfold, May 2007):

It took us 19 minutes to reach Dunsfold from Kent (already airborne, just stood-down from another task). As of 8 June it'll take the new Surrey/Sussex Air Ambulance less than 30 seconds to reach the same spot! Big thanks to Gatwick controllers for being so co-operative on the day - a great help.

I see Rob is looking as handsome as ever!!:E

Thud_and_Blunder 6th Jun 2007 10:33

Hi tbc - he probably does, I'm not qualified to judge! Not the only Nursey any more - 2 new fellas training-up/online as we speak.

Ta for all the help elsewhere - look forward to seeing you out and about.

eman_resu 14th Jun 2007 14:27

Well quite frankly I hope I don't see you, well at least landing anywhere near me anyway, (means I'm already in big trouble)
Well done to you all for the work you put in, and, in the UK at least under charitable status.
And a special hello to my former instructer RC, last known working HEMS in the Midlands area..

Thud, long time no see, good pics there.

Please, just tell me it's not his gizzard lying in the road in that first pic  :yuk:

;)

Thud_and_Blunder 15th Jun 2007 17:59

Shy,

Rest easy, there's nowt there that'd cause anyone to get upset. Can't really discuss prognosis here, but I believe the casualty's outcome is a lot better than it might have been. Top work by the medical staff, as usual - I've never had a job where it's so easy to motivate myself to go "on shift".

G-WPAS at Westbury 18/06/07

G-WPAS landed at the Leighton sports centre in Westbury this evening, the first of two visits to Westbury today. Sadly on this first visit, the casualty did not require their services. Thanks to the crew for taking the time to chat to the by-standers.

Two more from the past couple of weeks:

... shortly after the picture was taken, the land-crew bloke whose blue glove you can see was reminded of the briefing he'd just been given about ILS aerials.

After that, in Lincolnshire G-LNAA was used to help out with an unfortunate cyclist:

Does anybody know what the wicked lookin' coat hangar on top of the 1995 Coastguard MRB hub is?

ShyTorque 5th Jul 2007 00:19

Pitot Heads.

quichemech 5th Jul 2007 12:34

They certainly are.:)

HELOFAN 5th Jul 2007 15:56

Isnt that the pitot , wind calibrator ram tube position hold item thingies ?

Sorry , Hope I wasnt too technical LOL

HF

22clipper 6th Jul 2007 07:14

So what's so special about the centre of the MRBs that you'd go to the trouble of putting it/them there? Apart from the trouble of locating a non rotating part in the centre of a rotating one I thought the air flow there would be a bit disturbed?
