Those were the days.......

when you could fly through tunnels and between buildings at 20ft agl without giving a rats about rules and regs.

Rule Five has zip to do with flying low safely!

Low flying is safe done correctly, done cold bloodedly, and done with respect to aircraft performance both in Normal and Emergency conditions.

If one always without fail or variation does a low recon of the route to be flown....confirming immediately before the run there are no "new" or "old" obstacles....verifies aircraft performance....that prevents running into something by surprise. Likewise, it also provides you the opportunity to ensure you do not endanger or merely scare anyone on the ground.

Rule Five is just the CAA's way of acting as a Nanny for the stupid and careless. That and putting yet another burden to anyone that expects flying to be fun.

Below tree top level is where real helicopter flying starts.....and at some point ends!:E
