My dream helicopter

"One that never goes U/S, doesn`t need engineering support and is powered by water":D

MD500 Notar, and if i win the lottery i`m on my way to shoreham to buy one from there (thats where i`ve seen the most 500`s)

Max,
Impeccable taste and succinctly put, I'm firmly in your camp! Parked a Chinny next to a Halo a few years ago. I walked about two hundred yards away and turned round. Never, ever, seen a Chinook look so small! The Hokum is a true beast, designed with Heli v Heli in mind, so where does it fit in my list?
1. Chinook - all the cab you'll ever need!
2. Hokum - all the cab you'll ever want!
3. UH1 - Every helo pilot should fly one...
4. Gazelle - So simple, so fast, so fun.....
5. YAH-56 Cheyenne - What a concept!
Oh, and yes, I'd love to fly the Warthog too!!!

My dream helo ... Ka50/52 Hokum. A true battlefield predator and possibly as good looking as rotary gets.

I should think if you are flying a Chinook and one of these appears, it is your worst nightmare :E

Any helicopter that is safe to fly and is mine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Gomer Pylot 29th Jul 2006 16:35

Anyone who says the S76 has no power hasn't flown the newer models. The A++ has plenty of power, and the first limit at altitude is usually Vne. The C++ has lots of power and all the bells and whistles, but I'm still waiting for the S76D. Might be a long wait, because AFAIK the engines haven't even been built yet. If they perform as advertised, though, it should be a very nice machine.

Aser 29th Jul 2006 17:46

At the moment, given my little experience I'm flying my dream helicopter AB-139 :}

Lots of power... I imagine the 139 must be something near your S76D Gomer pylot

Canadian Rotorhead 29th Jul 2006 20:28

I'm with Aser, give me an AW139 anyday. I'm tired of the steam driven cockpits in underpowered machines.

:)

Gomer Pylot 29th Jul 2006 20:54

The AW139 doesn't seem to be making the grade in the GOM. It just doesn't live up to the claims the manufacturer makes. The S76D will be well beyond what the 139 can offer, if it even comes close to the promises, because the C++ does a better job than the 139.

Canadian Rotorhead 29th Jul 2006 20:58

Thanks for that, I haven't flown the C+ yet. My only amount of 76 time was on the straight A model.

Maybe there's a 139B on the way?

:ok:

Evalu8ter 29th Jul 2006 23:35

Power is all about perception,
A lightly loaded chinny, 100% matched Gorni.., 3000' fpm vertical with a twist! Ah, happy days! Anyone with a Ka-50 fancy a (pretend) fight?

BigMike 30th Jul 2006 05:47

An R22 with Angelina Jolie in the left seat... ;)

I use to think so.

Nice bird but not a mchine to be stuck on with certain companies as it equates to grim jobsites.

The "Angry Egg" with a broom shoved up it's bum.

Too fun to fly though, I'm told you can take off backwards in it almost as fast as you can cruise a Bell 47 G2 in forward flight.

(Don't try this)

Ha ha, good one :ok: gotta lave your work there Kanuck rotorhead.

Truth is I'm actually a frustrated plank driver, so I cant comment on the virtues of Mr Hughes wonderful little machines, apart from a little bit of tooling around on a couple of occasions - however if I had the balls to jump the fence into the fling wing world......
