What's the going rate nowadays?

My guess is that the best deals should be around USD12000/month including per diems, tax free and all expenses paid for. Locations are usually hellholes like Nigeria or the Middle East with type ratings that include AW139, EC255 or S92 in the O & G sector.

A bit more than that is on offer around the traps these days....Plenty of guys on 150-200K + USD with the benefits mentioned above ......UAE isn't exactly a hell hole either (nor is it without its issues) :ok:

Cheers

These guys must be with some Royal VIP Flight of some oil sheikhs.:* :(

Let's hear something from the regular offshore drivers touring 6/6, minding their own business flying the line.:D:):zzz:

Nigeria 6 weeks on - 6 weeks off
medium captain
seven years off shore experience
$129500.00 (incl. 7% company pension contributions)

helimutt 28th Mar 2012 18:14

How much:eek:

Wish i was on that on my 6/6 rotation in Africa. Maybe I should ask for Nigeria? :)

Tango123 28th Mar 2012 19:37

Helimutt..... I can tell you, its not worth it, even with the free food and accommodation. I would work anywhere, but Westafrica, for that kind of money.

Troglodita 29th Mar 2012 09:47

West Africa?

Tango 123 - what problems did you have? You sound as if you worked there for quite a while.

gnow 31st Mar 2012 13:56

EC 225 Line Training captain in the far East...ex military, 27 years offshore flying (Tota time almost 20000 hrs) getting an equilvalent of USD 9000 (including retirement fund contribution) per month. After all the deductions left with only USD 6000 per month. Should have opted for airlines when I had the chance many many years ago. That is why I am still not rich...just wealthy!

Epiphany 31st Mar 2012 19:21

You need to renegotiate your contract Gnow. They are getting your services on the cheap. I know co-pilots who earn more than that.

VFRIFR 1st Apr 2012 03:14

Epip 's right gnow, there guys's with a fraction of your hours taking home almost double yours.:ugh:

On the other hand if you are a national in your home country that about what you get.:ugh::ugh: If you want more look abroad, be an expat.:ok:

gnow 1st Apr 2012 04:13

I know they are paying us a fraction of what we are supposed to get. Excuse is always we are not making( enough) money! Option is to go to a place called Nigeria where they are very short on pilots. On the other hand we have bondings to fufil and the good thing is we get to be home every day. Home is where there is good food and the cost of living relatively low so we loose some and we make some.
For my younger friends....the worst money that we can make is from earned income. Robert Kiyosaki the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad who also happened to be an ex helicopter pilot too is my champion! Maybe try to look outside the earned income box. Location and having time is alos very important!:=

TimTooWindy 7th Jan 2014 22:29
