Now come on boys, you're starting to get silly here ;)
Wish I hadn't said "Keep 'em coming" Quijibo Here are some serious things on't which to ponder 1. Which school - which country 2. Which helicopter (more around than just an R22) 3. Hourly costs and how is hour charged 4. NB more considerations than just hourly rate - i.e. hidden charges, quality of instruction and type of heli 5. Part time/full time 6. Will you be going on to CPL - what will you do with it when you have got it 7. Get your medical 8. Get your ground exams - start studying asap Suggested answers to all these will be found here through a search but are a FEW considerations for you to be getting on with. Cheers Whirlygig |
Good suggestions, Whirlygig. I just hope that Quijibo is still here; if it were me I think I'd have given up in disgust and gone elsewhere. :(

Sorry!
We was only having a larf!
Should you do it??????? Well let's see now mmmmnnnnn????? None of us here ever asked the question should we do it (probably) Speaking personally I would have sold my granny and her walking stick to get the money to fly one of these incredible machines. The reason we made jokes is because the real answer was a forgone conclusion for everyone here . . . . . . YYYYYYEEEEEESSSS DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT. Don't think about it, don't ever ask someone elses opinion about whether you should do it JUST DO IT. IT'S GREAT-FANTASTIC AWESOME AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!! P.S. I'm prepared to accept that I may be wrong if you are prepared to accept that I may be right. P.P.S Let us know how you get on! |

As this thread has started to lean back towards helicopters, the small confined space I shared with Kylie was the exact dimensions of an AS350 cabin and rest is classified! :ok: :ok: :ok: Had a lovely time and managed to get an item of clothing as a memento:O |

Quij,
As someone who has fairly recently got started on the road, my advice would be... Consider if you are going to want to go commercial. If you are, and you have any, even slight, doubts medically, get a class 1 medical, the last thing you want to do is get addicted to flying (and you will, hell I am and I've only done 17 odd hours), only to find out you can't pursue it further. Do a tour of the internet for suitable Flight schools, depending whether you want to do modular, or not, will make a differance to location, as you could end up spending a fortune on petrol. Once you have located a few suitable schools, do the legwork, go in speak to the instructors, if possible some of the students and post here for opinions. Then book a trial lesson (if you do it at the location you intend to train with, it's easier to get it in your log book and counted towards your total hours), phone your bank manager, and go for it. It is a long and expensive road, but if you don't start you will never know what you're missing Good Luck Cheers Dan |
