Few weeks ago I wrote an email to Atlantic helicopters LLC. The same result: no answer.
I saw Atlantic helicopters website: no a pilot picture published, no names... Only two adresses: the American and English one.
I checked "Organisations Conducting Approved Courses of Flight and Ground Training" version 118 document on UK CAA website.
Results: no match comparing the English adress and EASA ATO approval number GBR.0310 data cited on Atl. helo. website.
Something is not clear about your... "EASA & FAA approved flight school..." Do you agree muermel?
Just a curiosity: are you an Italian guy?
If I'm wrong, please, give us valid references and I will apologize with you and Atlantic helicopters LLC.

Don't be so demanding and hostile, I'm writing this in my time off and I just came back from 6 weeks Florida so I've got some things to take care of, and I don't get paid to do this or am in any way related to the company so calm down. :=

Drop them an eMail and Mr. Sims will get back to you if. It's a one man operation so give him a day or 2 to respond. I had the same thing with them, dropped them a Mail and didn't hear from the for a week. The owner Mr. Sims was in South America for business, I wrote the mail again , he apologized, case closed for me. :D

I did most of my training with Bristow in 2010, 2011 & so what I spend for my training is irrelevant. Also you might not do the same hours, ratings or licences that I did so what's the point?

You will have to tell him about your flight experience anyway. Night hours, cross country time, EASA-PIC time, total time etc.... Too many variables in there to give a quick and easy answer.

I converted an FAA CPLH to an EASA one and also did my typerating on the R22 and also build some hours towards my 100 hours EASA-PIC. The hourly rate depends on the total ammount of hours you will fly with Atlantic Helicopters. They start at 335 $ including VAT and fuel (R22) but like I said that number might change depending on the total ammount of hours you will fly with them.

Oh I disagree about my "Approved for EASA and FAA Training" saying. I hold all certificates in hand to apply to the CAA for my Licence, so what about all this is not "clear"? I did my checkrides (with the Head of Training of Bristow btw, he wouldn't conduct checkrides for a "Fake Company" or whatever you're implying here :}), have all the paperwork and just did all my training with the company. What about that is not clear?

You don't really have much choice anyway. Bristow won't do any modular stuff (conversions, hour building etc.) anymore anyway, even they will tell you to contact Atlantic Helicoptes, like in my case. I asked Bristow first, they don't want the modular stuff, too much hassle for them.

So you either do it with Atlantic or in the EU, for a lot more money (if the end result is supposed to be a EASA-CPLH).

I'm not Italian, no.

Oh and for your "Theory" Exams you will have to check the CAPT-Website and speak to Mr. Croucher of CAPT, he and Bristol run the only distance learning course in the EU (as far as I know) towards Helicopter ATPL. You will need to sort out the 14 exams first anyway before the flying part, since you're doing it the modular way.

Student visa can be aranged, yes.

Student housing is in the process, but check airbnb and other sources, plenty of options available in Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and Port St. Lucie. You can go for the "roomshare for ca. 800 $/month" to "Luxury apartment for 2500 $/month" options.

"Any other relevant cost"? What's that supposed to mean? How the fu** do I know on what you like to spend your cash on?

Evening all, I've just been trawling the forums for a couple hours however most of the information is now a little dated.

I'm not far off completing my EASA PPL(H), and looking forward I would like to do a couple of weeks away and get in some hours building. Can anyone recommend any schools that are value for money in regards to hours building or r44 conversion courses, either in US/NZ/SA or even here in the UK.

Im looking for some advice from all of you professionals out there!
I am coming up to my PPL test, my end goal is to get on the air ambulance crew, my question is what can i do in the mean time? As you all know flying isnt cheap! i want to know how i can build my hours and the kind of jobs i want to be looking for, are there ways i can earn AND build hours towards my CPL?

Getting over to the USA somehow will be you best bet. The helicopter job market has never been as bad as now. I personally think the helicopter industry has peaked and it will never recover to activity levels seen the past. There again, if you want it that bad, you'll find a way. Good luck.
