Helitech - UK

Just wondering if anyone from the Rotorheads was coming to the Helitech show at Duxford from the 23rd to the 25th.

:E

Hilico 14th Sep 2003 04:25

Not sure, even though I've got my ticket. Depends on several factors.

1. Whether I've got a job by then.

2. What the weather is like (not aviation weather, I'll be coming by motorbike).

3. Whether Noel Edmonds is turning up this time. If he's there, don't look for me.

Look for a middle-aged-ish very grey-haired individual of average height wearing glasses in a cheap dark suit carrying a battered briefcase. If you get close enough I might be wearing a badge saying 'aka Hilico'.

Helitech - UK

Yes plus a couple of friends. Its woth going I find, if only to renew free subscription to Rotor and Wing, which despite me doing so, on each occasion, deliveries ceased after about four issues. Anyone else had the same problem.

Thud_and_Blunder 14th Sep 2003 05:02

I'll be there - I'm off shift (our police force don't waste council taxpayers dosh by sending the crew there...) and fancy going to stay with kid bruv down the road from Duxford for a couple of nights. He'll be the one blagging all the freebies off the stalls; he even managed a Gerber tool last Helitech, jammy sod. :ok:

Dantruck 14th Sep 2003 06:03

Dantruck says:

I'll be there, journo's notepad in hand. But hey!... don't let that put you off strolling up, shaking me warmly by the hand and offering to buy me lunch...(Well, Hey!...I am a freelance journalist ya know!)

Seriously though, I'll be trawling for truth at the show. If you feel you've got something interesting you want or need to share, be it ON or OFF the record, try to find me. I'll be the thin guy with gold rim glasses, grey hair and a Billingham camera bag on his shoulder. Or leave a message at the press office and I'll find you.

Also, if you are one of those ppruners who think all journo's are the unprincipled son of satan, still come and find me. If you are genuinely interested I will try to explain (without excusing) the inner workings of the media,,, and maybe that will help.

To all those wanting to attend Helitech. If I can help anyone get passes am happy to do so. Just send me a PM with names and details and will assist where possible.

I'll be there; might even manage two days.
Anybody who wants a free ticket can get one online on www.helitech.co.uk.

Martin1234 15th Sep 2003 03:37

Can anyone please help me out with the co-ordinates alternatively the address of the main entrance to the exhibition?

I don't want to walk more than necessary if I don't find a taxi at the local train station.

paco 15th Sep 2003 05:07

Yup - should be there on the 23rd - I'll be the one in the nice new suit (carrying a copy of Vertical)

Arctic Tern 15th Sep 2003 06:06

Anyone going to Helitech interested in talking to a couple of SAR Boys who want to discuss role equipment, consultancy, new business, starting-out, sponsorship, etc? If so drop me a note in my PM slot.

YBMC 15th Sep 2003 14:35

As a newly qualified pilot Helitech sounds like something I should be attending. Am I correct - what am I going to see there?

CRAN 15th Sep 2003 14:52

I'll be there on the 23rd.

rotorboater 15th Sep 2003 16:40

I will be there, I am the tall guy with dimples & Blue Enstrom, easy to spot.
Maybe someone should arange a meeting time & place for the ppruners, any ideas?
See you there

topcat450 15th Sep 2003 18:25

I'll be there, Monday & Thurs..possibly weds...also think I'll be driving though :(

Hilico 15th Sep 2003 21:19

YBMC - my target market is the small-ish operation with 3-10 machines and accompanying crewing level. Almost none of them have stands at Helitech because 'we're too busy trying to make money'. Eurocopter and Bell would be there, Bristows were last time, and there were all sorts of manufacturers of ancilliaries. It's very probable that none of them would be interested in what I write and sell.

Hence it's probably not worth my while from the sales point of view. Luckily there is reason 2 - I'm mad about helicopters so I'd go anyway. Hey, that's why I started writing aviation software in the first place.

(Edited for sp)

paco 16th Sep 2003 00:34

what software do you do, and on what platforms - got a couple of ideas myself

If you would like me to share anything with you give me a PM to arrange :ok: :ok:

john du'pruyting 24th Sep 2003 03:23

VFRPB.....You can't describe where you live as the centre of the country!!...It's almost bl**dy Scotland;)

DBChopper 24th Sep 2003 04:55

Well - did anyone else fly in today? What FANTASTIC weather! Shame it took an hour to get fuel on arrival, but I suppose the bowser breaking down couldn't be helped...

Well done to Duxford's FISOs who did a great job despite some poor R/T from some (simple things like forgetting type, p.o.b., destination and startup clearance - shame it was one guy and all in the same message!).

So, did anyone else enjoy the stunning vis today?

Vfrpilotpb 24th Sep 2003 16:31

JDP,

How the hell are ya, nice to hear from you despite trying to rubbish my statement, the OS people have described Ribchester, a small old Roman village as the CENTRE of the UK, as it is only a couple of miles from moi, how can I be classed as nearly in Billys land;)

The Nr Fairy 24th Sep 2003 20:47

Anyone going up there from Wiltshire way tomorrow ? If work goes quiet in the next 12 hours I may be able to make it . . .

JAFCon 25th Sep 2003 00:43

Been to Helitech Tuesday & Wednesday saw some old friends, Saw some very nice Aircraft Liked the look of the Sikorsky S92 (Looks very nice in the Green), Can't understand Agusta Westland No AB139, No EH101 (which I think is a far better Helicopter than The Sikorsky S92) obviously dont wish to sell their Aircraft.

Didn't see any pruners wearing the PPRUNE Badge, got some nice freebie's for the kids, weather was excellent.

Also went arond the Museum which was worth a look, had a great two days.

If you havent been yet and you can go Tomorrow.

PAY HALF 25th Sep 2003 02:55

Hi there,
Did any of you people see the Jigsaw aircraft at Helitech.
I'd heard it was going to be there.
Did Bristows give the impression that things were looking good for that machine's future ?
Thanks

nev called to see you found stand left a card gear box leaving thurs flying 2 weeks on thurs
steve

t'aint natural 25th Sep 2003 03:48

Autorotate: I called by your stand twice but you were off somewhere; I nicked a magazine though, very good.
Flying in was brilliant, especially coming out - vis was 50 miles. I managed to blag a ride in the S92, which included a max performance t/o, 2200fpm vertical.
Excellent day.

Autorotate 25th Sep 2003 13:32

Sorry I wasnt there guys, busy playing and looking at all the toys :D

To anyone else going today make sure you stop in and visit. Will spend a bit more time on the booth today. Going to do some aerial shots of the show around 1pm so keep an eye out for that.

Great event so far and some nice machinery. Went for a walk along the visiting aircraft side and some beautiful looking machinery. Some really elaborate paint schemes and have to compliment a lot of UK owners as they are taking great pride in their machines. Some of the schemes on the Gazelles were awesome. :ok:
