Anyone else have a go in that attack heli sim? It's a prototype so I didn't expect miracles, but the big disadvantage was the extremely notchy collective. One tester had said that the lever kept dropping whenever he took his hand off, but the resulting correction the engineers implemented made it far too stiff and notchy. Before I got in it I watched one amateur crashing it into the scenery, and then found he was the software engineer - and you'd think he would know how to fly it.

It felt so bad that afterwards I had to blag a sit in the HEMS 109 just so I could feel a smooth one (arf arf).

I was there on tuesday, liked it so much I went back today. Fantastic weather both days!

Wore my PPRuNe badge both days but didn't get accosted by anyone, well no-one I didn't already know

:O

While strolling among the helicopters on stand I noticed the S-76 operated by a hotel chain. The interior was luxurious and presumely so are the hotels. While I was walking around the helicopter I looked in the cockpit and found it quite worn, yet not in bad shape but not as fancy as the passenger cabin.

Is that just one of many intimates about the life of a helicopter pilot?

A FINE DISPLAY

I thought the culmination of the superb weather, the attendance figures the atmosphere and the quality of the static aircraft on display will give the industry a much needed push toward better times.

Bumping into MisN is always a pleasure. I've enjoyed it in the past !

DBChopper 27th Sep 2003 21:37

So it seems Misnomer's following now extends to Rotorheads, too. :)

MisN, it seems you had better scrap the fixed wing and start playing with a chopper or two...

DB / Nr fairy, prey tell?????
Who/what is this Misnomer:suspect:

The Nr Fairy 27th Sep 2003 23:29

TC :

That would be telling.

Oh, alright. Since you've asked so nicely. She's a lovely lady PPRuNer from East Anglia, only bad point is she's into drugs and she doesn't fly helicopters.

DBChopper 27th Sep 2003 23:48

She is indeed a lovely lady PPRuNer, who needs to get airborne again soon. I'm trying to work on the rotary thing, 'cos with the new car she really should be seen getting out of a helicopter and not a Cessna 150.

Oh, and we should add that she's into drugs professionally as opposed to recreationally ;)
