SWO Canada

4.Previous jobs?

Offshore oil support, Ag work, Charter, Survey, Photography, Tourism and a tiny bit of Mustering. Commercial Whitewater River Guide, Trade Certified Automotive Engineer, truck driver, tour bus guide, labourer, waiter, speleology guide, breakfast cook, gardener, petrol pumper at servo, dept store clerk, paper round.

S76A/C, AS350, B206, B47, KH4, R44, H269, R22

6.Military/ Ex-Military?

Too dumb for the military

7. How long have you been flying?

Commercially 10 years. Born into the industry as a fixed wing brat.

8. How many hours?

3500 ish.....

9. Most memorable flight?

Jumping back to a B47 after flying fully coupled S76C for two years.

What type of flying work do you do?
Helo flying limited to fire-fighting and sling work with the occaisonal charter and game capture. Fixed wing; airline mostly and anything without a training wheel bolted to the front

What types(s) do you fly?
B407, BH06, B747, DC3T, DC3, DHC6, B190, BE20, SS2T, PO18, ...and several other things

Where?
South Africa

Previous jobs?
Contracts for the ICRC, UN etc all over Africa and the the Middle East. Geophysical survey in Canada with turbine DC3. Wage slave for various Airline/Charter companies etc.

I think about 40 odd at the last count

Hesitated to register as I am a closet plank driver but Heliports encouragement has prompted me to list.

Type of work:

Day job. 747-400's training captain.

AC type:

Real aircraft, R22 and R44. One treasured hour on EC120 last year.

Location:

Hong Kong

You don't want to know about those with static wings... but mostly airline jet stuff.

Previous Jobs:

BA first officer before it was BA. i.e. BOAC and BEA. Scary isn't it?

How long flying:

Since gliding in 1962.

Most memorable flight.

The one that started my helicopter flying. Twenty minutes round the mountains of North Vancouver in a B206. Hooked for life.

What type of flying work do you do?

Helicopter Design Engineer. Bit of an all-rounder with experience in powerplants, structures and general aircraft design. More recently specialising in Aerodynamics & Performance. Key specialisms invlove helicopter and engine design & performance software development, FEA, CFD, CAD......oh yes, and the regs! Seem to spend an aweful lot of time looking at regulations!


What types(s) do you fly?

I've worked on EH101 (Mk1, Mk3 & 310/510) and Lynx. Have also worked on a number of warbirds, Spitfire in particular. Been involved in a large project to develop a light helicopter for the past 6 years.

I fly R22, R44 and S300.

In 35 years of flying I have done the military, fire, offshore, from Alaska to China, Europe to Puerto Rico.

I have flown light (206, A-star) medium (UH-1, 212, 412) Heavy (AS332) in all the above areas.

In the military, I started in Vietnam and flew all over the US and Korea. Since the military I have flown in Europe,US, Canada, Asia from sealevel to 13,000 feet.

I have been in the Army for 20 years and with my present employer for 15

Types flown are UH-1, AH-1, OH-6, OH-58, 212, 412, 206 series, AS332. I am typed in the 212 and S330. I have a ATP.

I have something over 12,000 hours and over 600 hrs IFR.

Of course my first solo.
And a flight in the r22 in low vis. then crossing Pirineos mountains (7.000' msl) , was a very nice view but I'm not accustomed to be so high
