Maryland State Police fly 100,000th patient
RISING SUN, Md. -- Maryland State Police Aviation Division has flown its 100,000th patient.
A 4-year-old girl who was hit by a car in Rising Sun Wednesday was flown to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Center in stable condition. The fleet has 12 American EuroCopters that are dispatched from eight locations around the state. Each can carry a total of six people, including two patients.
The police aviation division was set up in 1961 and, on March 19th 1970 was expanded into EMS when it became the first civilian agency to transport a critically injured trauma patient by helicopter. This had never been done before in a non-military setting.
The Maryland State Police Medivac program is also known as one of the safest - no accidents since a Jetranger crashed in 1986, killing both troopers on board.

Nice story !!!
I have seen the Discovery Wings channel show about them, quite a good operation. I think they can get to anyone in the state in about 15 minutes (injured or criminal).
A helicopter operation that doesn’t mind a little publicity, it’s the best way to get the public’s support and buy in.
