IMHO the current global conflict is far from being 'off-topic'. Most would say that it is the world's most topical subject.
Passionate discussions amongst peoples are a far superior solution then the alternate of physical confrontations. Restricting the communication of divergent beliefs only fuels the narrowness of nationalistic beliefs.
As an analogy, the kitchen pressure cooker will violently explode, if the valve does not allow it to 'let off steam'.
Today, the meeting of widely diverse points of view on this subject is topical for all and every forum. This is particularly true of a forum in which many nationalities participate and the forum's subject mater will play such an important roll in the 'event'.
Let the fur fly, then delete this thread at some future time.
