Hello OZ/NZ/PNG drivers...

Noticed recently a job ad for PNG with requirements of 5000hrs TT and 2500hr TT on turbines. In country or "tropical experience" required as well...

For a country with a failing economy and the kina valued at 36c OZ, are these realistic requirements for a bloke who will probably be driving a longranger?

Since I first looked at PNG in the early 90's it has always had these absurd requirements. Would it be true to say that the PNG operators up that way have been chewing a little too much bettlenut and haven't kept up with the worldwide shortage of experienced pilots? Or is it still blamed on the oil company requirements.

Here in Canada the lads don't even want to fly the Bell products. In a company with a bunch of Astars and LR's; if you get rostered the LR you have just drawn the short straw.....
Don't even ask what they say about the JR.
