NTSB: 2 dead in helicopter crash on North Slope

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Federal officials confirmed that two people were killed in a helicopter crash Wednesday on Alaska’s North Slope.

The helicopter was part of a missing aircraft search by North Slope Borough search teams about 28 miles west of Deadhorse, according to National Transportation and Safety Board Alaska Chief Clint Johnson.

Details were scant as of the time of publication, but Johnson said the crash appears to have occurred around late morning.

Johnson added that an NTSB investigating team is en route to the area.
