I'm looking for pictures of Bell 407

This is a very special request to pilots who have access to the Bell 407.

As some of you know, I'm a pilot, but of RC helicopters, and I'd like to make a scale model of the Bell 407.

I have some documentation, but I can't find many detailed photos, and I'm missing many measurements.

If anyone would be patient and could help me, I would be very grateful.

This 3D model might help, but some bits are simplified

Try and find somebody with access to the 407 Structural Repair Manual which may have Basic Lines Data in Section 1. Possibly won't find a copy online.

Similar to this example of B206.

I have plenty of documentation and the manual you mentioned, but it doesn't have the dimensions I need. Thank you.

While I no longer have access to a 407, I inquired with several people on the measurements you are looking for. Was told a number of scale aircraft modelers will seek out high-resolution photos from online, from facebook and similar sites, and from libraries, etc on the subject aircraft. They would then identify an item within the photo with a known dimension like a radio, or instrument, or even a hardware fastener and apply that known measurement to the entire photo. Some will even scan the image into a special program and digitally measure the items of interest. Once they had a known scale of measurement for that photo, they would measure all the required items they needed. Perhaps give that method a try? If I run across any other specifications will post them for you. Best of luck.

Going a step up, 3D scanning of the whole airframe, now that would be a project !
I see it done a lot in the classic plane restoration business, the file goes to the router file directly and makes you a new aluminum skin straight out, rivet holes and everything.

Hi Wrench1, Perhaps everyone you've spoken to has never built anything in their life, nor have they ever searched for an image of something that doesn't exist on the internet or in other groups. I'd like to tell you that I didn't start this project last week; I've been at it for almost three years, and yes, I have many photos and documents, but the measurements you're requesting are for a reason: there are no photos or measurements. If I could scan a Bell 407, I wouldn't bother asking for the favor. It's incredible that with so many hundreds or thousands of registered users here, no one contributes anything. When I was able to contribute, I did so without any particular interest and shared many documents I had. If I were a mediocre person who does things halfway, but unfortunately, I like to do things almost perfectly, and I want to do that with this project. Thanks for your responses.

Not really. One of the people I inquired with is a commercial scale model builder who has built 1000s of scale models to include a number of historical airplanes and helicopters. As they say, ignorance is bliss. Best of luck with your endeavor.
