Perhaps, since this is the rotary section, enthusiasts and non-pilots could just keep quiet, since this is not facebook, and it is challenging reading such drivel from some people who clearly have no clue about helicopters.

Wow! It happens really fast in the video clip, but if you frame by frame it, it appears that the two bladed rotor and transmission have completely separated, and are slowly falling, as the cabin falls quickly away. Other debris can be seen falling behind.

Wild that someone caught both the crash and the rotor system with attached gearbox spinning smoothly all the way to the water. Some type of pylon failure?

It looks as if the front end of the tail boom has been cut diagonally across.

Given the misreporting in the general media, let’s get this bit right

Owned by, and leased by Meridian Helicopters

operated by New York Helicopter

Indeed, could be a Mast Bumping event. In the end is a two-blades helicopter operating at low speed and changing attitudes quite frequently.
I suppose it was one of the several sightseeing flights out there.

Meridian is a small company specializing in leasing, brokering and refurbishing helicopters.

They recently completed their 29th refurbishment of a Bell 206L https://verticalmag.com/press-releas...l4-to-flynyon/

I saw another video that IF accurate and of the same hull, appeared to show the 206 stooging around close to the cloud base immediately before the accident. With a teetering head one sadly must put mast bumping at the top of the list of causes.

Holy Mother of God pray for their souls! This makes a seasoned pilot cry. Memories of the 225 in Norway come flashing back.
