Actual flight recording app

Hi All....
I been searching for an App to use for recoding flight details (instead of writing it on paper) by hitting the start/stop button on the cell/ipad.
- Start & end position, T/off & landing time, Fuel start & end....etc etc...

Appreciate any info

Are these applications rated or compared for cost and functionality anywhere?
Do they require additional hardware?

So Foreflight is relatively expensive for a personal licence but it's backed by Boeing and used by big airlines so it is slick with all the bells and whistles. It will overlay IFR charts, automatically route an IFR flight plan, talk to you as you fly to provide the next frequency for airspace, integrate with pretty any EC device (eg Sky Echo) and has chatting for the whole planet. But it's probably the most expensive option of them all and is likely overkill.

Any fairly competent navigation solution (Skydemon etc) will automatically record your flights but not sure if they will output a neat logbook ready summary of the timings. A Garmin aviation watch will do a neat job of it though.

Helipaddy Flights

Helipaddy just included a beta of their Flights feature which is designed for PPR but also to log flights. It’s designed for simplicity and doesn’t replace a logbook. But it may suit if you want to keep track of flights and log them later.

Thumbs up AutoLog system from CloudbaseGA

Try the AutoLog system from CloudbaseGA. (It seems that until I have 8 posts I can't include a url link, but a search for CloudbaseGA - all one word will find it)

They have one version configuration for fixed wing G/A aircraft and another specifically for GA helicopter operations.

I have heard good reports.

I hope this helps. - Good luck.

If you’re in the UK, then Airbox ACANS (previously RunwayHD) contains an electronic log which complements its core mapping / navigation functions.

The attached screenshot shows the default tabs / buttons available - pressing one places a date / time stamp in the log file. Selecting “Note” allows you to type free text. The system auto-detects flight (“Position log started” / “Position log ended”) and adds an entry into the log file but it lacks some finesse, so logging your takeoff and landing by pressing the appropriate button is invariably more accurate.

Flight logs can be saved and clicking on the date / time brings up all the information contained within that log. The files can also be e-mailed directly from the app.

I think Airbox ACANS is only available to commercial and specialist operators (HEMS etc)
