Yacht Pilot questions, customs, etc

Recently got hired by a high net worth individual as his personal pilot. Aircraft is M-reg, already got my IOM validation for my FAA ATP and have been flying the last few months for him. Gotten familiar with the GAR and customs forms for Ireland, UK and the Netherlands.

Boss will be taking delivery of his yacht in the next couple months, so our options for locations are about to expand immensely. And since this is a new operation, I don’t have anyone to lean on for solid information.

Does anyone who is or has worked in a similar capacity have a good consolidated list of information that would be helpful?

I found info here the other day about the helisurface permit for France, so I will be getting that application in this week.

But what other surprises are out there that I may not know of?

Get onto bladeslapper and get in contact with Havick. He flys off a private yacht for a private owner so should be able to give you some good intel.

Start your online application here for helisurface permit if you haven't already - https://www.demarches-simplifiees.fr...d-helisurfaces

I operated off yachts from 1997~2021 full time until retirement in pretty much all the standard places and did fire ops in Spain and France prior so PM me if you want.

EC135 and H145 as pilot and maintenance tech.

Thanks, I am currently trying to register so I can get a message to him, had also sent him a message here, as he is the one who mentioned a whatsapp group for yacht pilots.

The online Helisurface application is a bit frustrating. Only allowing me to upload one document, but it wants quite a few. I'm wondering if it's better to email or send via snail mail to get it in?

Scan all your docs into one PDF and send it. Works.

That’s what I ended up doing. We will see how fast it gets processed.

If you are asked to land off airport in U.K. be aware that you will need to gain a written permission from the CAA to land in a congested area.
