Westland Lynx over Stonehenge

Does anyone have the back story to this picture? I assume it was used for PR for the AAC or Westland as it seems planned? I wondered what the back story to it was and if the picture is available to buy somewhere?

Of course it is, everyone knows that a helicopter can't do anything like that. You can see where it goes fuzzy where they pasted the image over each other.

It's a back flip , not a loop or roll and the Lynx is quite capable of it and quite a bit more.

The 'fuzzy' bits are the jet efflux from the exhausts - it's not photoshopped.

Of course it's Photoshopped !... where are the streams of dripping oil, exhaust smoke and detached blade weights ?
...or, perhaps it's not the one from Boscombe D Sqdn ?

By the look of the TOW tubes it’s the Blue Eagles cab.

This should show the image in question:

No idea whether it's photoshopped or not. The potential is there... but if real it is also an older photo so perhaps that accounts for the quality lacking somewhat.

It certainly is a Blue Eagles aircraft - the blue TOW tubes are a bit of a giveaway.

it is a shot that has been done in other locations - often Middle Wallop - because the back flip starts from a high hover, it is easy for the photo aircraft to position perfectly for the composition.

That might be.
But I highly doubt that this actually happend in that picture.
none of the public below even looks up and to me it seems that the pilots are looking straight ahead as if in level flight. I have done loops / backflip (how ever you want to call it) myself. And if the aircraft would be in that position I think the pilot would look through the roof window by then.
But as said - it could be real. I just doubt this picture was taken during a real event.

Have you done a back flip in a Lynx? It's not a loop and it starts from 1000' OGE hover. You pull fully back and slightly left on the cyclic (the left is to counter a pitch roll couple) and it is only when you get past the 90 degrees nose up position that you can think about looking for the horizon.

The fact that people aren't looking up means nothing, this wasn't at an airshow and immediately before the manoeuvre the only thing to see would have been two aircraft in a high hover - you used to see a lot of helicopters around Stonehenge as it was on a low level route to Salisbury Plain.
