Post 2025 Great UK Helicopter Fly In - Input Needed

Morning All,

Just wanted to get thoughts and feedback from members here. Myself and Nigel have put together the Great UK 500 Fly In for the past couple of years and had it strictly as a 500 event however we are getting asked more and more if we would expand it and make it open for all different types of helos.

So we have decided that in 2025 we will expand the event and make it all encompassing for anyone that wants to bring their helo. Our challenge is finding a location to hold it at. Indications are so far from those we have chatted to that there would easily be over 100 helicopters coming - for the 500 only event we did last year we had 29 machines and this year well over 35 and thats only 500s.

So please give me your thoughts on where you think we could hold it and who are helo friendly. Duxford isnt that keen as they already have heaps of other fly ins.

Thanks for your input everyone - just doing something to bring the helo community together.

Cheers

Ned

Hi Ned,

How about Middle Wallop?

With those numbers, any thoughts of resurrecting the massed approach :-))

One of the ideas is to have a massive marquee and make it an opportunity for past and present members of the industry to get together and chat and talk about old times. Apart from the usual European Rotors type events there is not really anything where we as an industry can get together and just talk $hite for $hits & Giggles.

Somewhere central would make obvious sense. Nottingham or Turweston?

Ot almy seems a pity to have a helicopter event at an airfield but it would probably be the easy option.

Wolverhampton/Halfpenny Green? New owner Tony Hall is very keen to bring in new events...
And there's a new bar/restaurant opening...

Compton Abbas? Seen several reviews on YT. It’s owned by Guy Richie and has a great looking cafe.
