The author was a few courses ahead of me at RAF BFTS at Linton and AFTS at Shawbury (as was Thud).
My wife just asked me what I’d like as a birthday present. I’ve requested the book.
It better be good….

Read it today and enjoyed doing so. It brought back many old memories; many of the names mentioned early in the book are well known to me.
I was one course after the author at RAF Linton on Ouse, albeit myself then getting somewhat left behind after having a major medical issue during jet training and later being re streamed onto helicopters. We later worked for PAS at the same time, but at opposite ends of the country.
The sadly missed Steve Belcher, John Cathie and myself joined the RAF together on the same day and were on the same officer training squadron. Steve and I were on the same flight of six. He told me quite soberly one day, quite out of the blue, that he believed he was going to die in an air crash not long after getting to a squadron and I told him he really should change branch. He didn’t and tragically, his premonition was totally correct, he perished in the RAF’s first fatal Nimrod crash. John Cathie, who died in his Jaguar, had been awarded the Sword of Honour for the best overall performance on our course.

Not allowed to read mine yet - SWMBO confiscated it on arrival and said I can have it for my birthday in July
