Calling all Helicopter Air Ambulance mechanics

Hello all,

I’ve had a few friends and acquaintances jump over to Helicopter Air Ambulance work in the past few years, either as mechanics or pilots, they’ve shared their experiences with various operators and they seem mostly positive.

I have a good job that unfortunately has me stagnating, and there’s really not a lot of opportunity for learning new things. i guess the best explanation is I don’t hate the job but I also don’t love it anymore. I’ve tried to take the position over the years that I don’t want to automatically dismiss other work opportunities just because of what I have now. I’ve even talken the step to interview for other positions, even though in the end I didn’t take on a new job, I felt that I grew from the process.

I’ve worked in the same type of helicopter work for 22 years, the pay and benefits are very good and I’ve always taken at face value that it is very stable employment, but lately I’ve been questioning if these are excuses that are keeping me locked into where I’m at now.

So, the questions I have for those out there in the HAA community, specifically mechanics: What do you see in your particular company, the good, bad and ugly? What benefits packages do you have? What is your schedule like? Things like that. I know that there’s no such thing as a perfect job, just trying to get a feel for what’s happening outside of the military contractor bubble.

So, if anyone wants to share, please message me directly, unless there’s something you feel others may want to know about this as well.

Thanks!
