Post The Great Kiwi 500 Fly In - Documentary

Just thought I would share this with those who have an interest in the 500. Its a short video we put together with some footage of the Great Kiwi 500 Fly In that myself, Bill and Woody put together in NZ earlier this year, includes some interviews with some of the legends of the Kiwi heli community.

Spoiler

Great video Ned! I am fortunate enough to have worked with Neil Laing during my career - such a character and absolute legend human being, I really enjoyed seeing him in there. He doesn’t look like he’s aged at all! (Except his glasses look to have gotten even stronger than last time I saw him).

Must have been an astonishing amount of collective flying experience. What an adventure that Venison era would have been.

Any plans for another one?

What a great gathering and a nice compilation of interviews.

Reminds me of going to the cinema in 1981 to see the Bond film "For Your Eyes Only" and the short before it was stunning footage of NZ deer hunting with 500's. Came out of cinema having enjoyed the short much more than the actual movie!

Nicely done Ned and everyone that put this event together. Toby Clark gave me my first flying job and I spent time flying Hook's 500 in Tauranga with the 47. Brings back great memories. Cheers

Was fun to put together - probably going to do another Kiwi one in 2025 and have all the 16 x 500s that couldnt get to the event because of Cyclone Gabriele. The one we did in the UK we had 29 x 500s and 1 x 600 so was another great event.
