AW189 Hard Landing

Kind of a lot of people for a post-maintenance test flight, if that is what it was.

That brings back memories of an RAF Wessex HC2 which threw itself sideways onto the apron at a certain helicopter base in Hampshire. It had been authorised as a “Pre Northern Ireland Shakedown flight”.

It certainly was.

Fortunately, the helicopter did not crash from a significant height, which could have resulted in more severe damage.
well it's not going to be a quick fix or buff out - fortunately it was
operated by a skilled pilot,

"operated by a skilled pilot"

Had the same thought Crab, imagine how bad the crash might have been if it had been operated by just some gash hand?

From the news report.

Helicopter Rotors Broken during Landing

One would think that was fairly obvious from the first photograph.

Like saying a set of new ones will fix it…..

Early '90s there was a Sea King which 'landed' at Farnborough while simulating a practice double throttle computer freeze. Not quite as hard a landing as the AW189 and Wessex but when they ground taxiied it back to the hangar where they found it had 'broken its back'.

Although reported as a hard landing, the incident occurred during ground operations/taxiing.
