Burkina Faso

Anyone flying in Burkina Faso at the moment.
Just looking for info as to the general situation.re ATC, security ect.
A friend has been offered a posting there. Flying helicopters I believe.
I never operated in that area and it has been years since I flew in Africa.
Out of Ouagadougou I think.
Any info on the aviation side of things would be appreciated.
I also posted this on the Africa webpage too.

I'm guessing it's in the big birds. I was surprised how low their pay is. You certainly wouldn't be doing it for the money.

I assume that too. I have no idea about $$$ but I don’t think they would take a cut in pay to go there.

225 I assume. Not even sure they’re flying right now. I have friend who flew there last week for three days just to do a ground run for periodic maintenance.

There is a VIP 139 flying there also. Maintained and oversight by HBG

As to the 225 I assume they would be equipped with sand filters so max mass ( hate that term ) would be considerably reduced and OEI performance would, of course, suffer also.
Nothing like that “baby powder” red African dust. “Brown out” landing techniques are such fun. Very much like the “white out” techniques we use in Canada. These were a great help to us Canucks when we started working for the UN in Kuwait and Somalia. I recall a video of a Puma working in dusty Africa and was appalled at the departure and arrival techniques used. Scary.

Ouagadougou airport

My friend says it's actually quite nice there. There's a bunch of other photos he sent, that kind of support that. Really depends on where you have been before!
