From Cirium.

A Ukraine Ministry of Interior Airbus EC225 Super Puma (54 BLUE) was destroyed when it crashed in a residential area of the Brovary district of Kyiv, Ukraine on 18 January 2023 killing the three crew and six passengers on board and at least six people on the ground. A further 25 people on the ground were said to have been injured. The crash resulted in a large fire that destroyed three cars and damaged a 14-story apartment block. The helicopter was said to have been 'flying low' when it crashed. The accident happened in daylight (0820L) but in poor weather with reduced visibility in mist/fog. The helicopter was operating a flight to Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Terrible.
RIP.

At least the rotor system is in the wreckage. Not miles away, intact.
Reports of “bad weather”, and tactical low flying. (Due fear of further Russian aggression.)

There are some video clips circulating of the immediate aftermath showing foggy conditions. Maybe about 50 to 60m visibility at ground level amongst contrasting structures.

It's reported that (very) low altitude helicopter flight is de rigeur in Ukraine for obvious reasons.

This is a lot of important people working for the same department to be on one a/c. To me the "all the one eggs in one helicopter" part is the only real mystery, as one of these birds was sure to go down in this environment for one reason or another.

The ongoing tragedy of the place. Over the years it is always noted how the muppet media always says of an aircraft prang that it just missed the school. Well, in Ukraine with a war going on, it hit the school…
