Thread resurrection but… interestingly I was walking past Aberdeen Royal Infirmary today, a Babcock 139 landed on the helipad. I stopped to gawp as you do. After it dropped off a walking wounded it took off. By that time I was on the other side of the road (dual carriageway) and near the downwind end of the area. Up and back it went, and quite a bit sideways so it was right over the road and nearly over the houses on the other side, right above me. Me gawping of course. It was fairly windy so I wasn’t expecting much downwash. Then whooosh massive gust that blew several roadworks signs over, sprayed me with gravel and nearly knocked me over. Only lasted a second, but that could have been enough to knock over some less robust person. If anyone has a contact at Babcock Abz perhaps it could be mentioned? Not sure whether one needs/should go sideways on a 139 helipad departure as surely that limits view of reject area for LHS but maybe that’s what the RFM says. I suggest it might have been better to stay over the hospital grounds and not hover at 100’ over a public road…
