MD500e Start pump

Hi all
I'm building a full scale MD500e simulator. I have built the T shape instrument panel and all the switches are in place.
Can someone tell me what the start pump is for and is it required to be on for start up?
I have looked at youtube MD start ups and curious about the start pump

Cheers

Rhys

Start pump is not normally needed. It features in various power loss scenarios.

Only really needed if
1. Very cold
2. Using alternate fuels
3. Low fuel warning light comes on
4. FCU / N2 gov failure
5. Emptying fuel tanks of fuel for maintenance purposes ( most common use )
