RIP Capt Allan V Mutton Irish Helicopters

Dear All,
Just to let you know my father passed away after a brief battle with cancer in Norfolk, surrounded by family. I have been going through his log books and didn't know how to contact people. He flew in the Royal Navy 1964-72 and Irish helicopters 72-85, followed by BP and Shell.
I am donating his log books to the Fleet Air arms museum and his commercial logs to the Irish maritime museum as he flew the Irish Lights routes for years.

regards Julie Mutton

Very sorry to hear this news. I knew Allan for a short while when he was working for BP in their aviation department when the company I worked for was BPs main helicopter provider. I found Allan very professional to deal with as a customer unlike some other customer aviation “experts” who were often less than understanding of the big picture and were obviously driven by their bonus's. He was one of the good guys.

Julie, my thoughts are with you and your family.

Sorry to hear the passing of Allan, I knew him in the navy, I was about 3 years before him. Later I spoke to him when he was with Irish Helicopters and he kindly offered me a role there. With hindsight I wish I had gone there! We still chatted on the phone several times after that. Condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear your sad news Julie. I flew with Al a few times at Portland in 1968. He was a great guy and I'm sorry our paths didn't cross again in later life. RIP

Very sorry to hear this. Al joined the RN a year after me but our paths never crossed until the '80's when he worked for BP's Aviation Department. We had a contract with BP and Al was always very fair and pleasant to deal with.

Thanks

Thanks for your messages, It's only after someone passes that you realise how much they did in their life, even if he was a grumpy bugger in his dotage!
